Daily Pictures of MGs

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I am hoping it is appropriate to start a thread such as this. I love seeing everyone's wonderful photos of their various varieties/cultivars of Morning Glories. So I was hoping this would be a good place to show off some photos of the blooms/leaves of your MGs.

I am a TOTAL newbie to MGs. I have NEVER even seen one in real life!!!! This year I planted quite a few and this is a photo of my FIRST EVER MG!!!! I believe it is "Star of Yelta". (Someone please correct me if I am wrong.) I have several of them started in that little cluster. I probably should have thinned them out. But I was so afraid I might kill all of them by disturbing them, so I left them in the place they sprouted. There is a trellis on the fence behind for them to climb. We had some heavy rain and a bit of wind yesterday, so imagine my delight when I walked out this morning and saw these 2 blooms smiling at me!!! I know they are probably pretty common to most of you on this forum ..... but to me they are BEAUTIFUL!!! :-)

Thanks, y'all! :-)

Do the blooms remain the same size as the first one or does the blooms get larger as the vine grows? I'm such a novice here. But I am learning fast!

I have some other cultivars of MG planted as well. But no flowers yet. Would love to see some photos of other MG flowers. Does anyone happen to have a photo of the blooms of Moonflower, Scarlet O'Hara, or any of the Japanese cultivars such as "Akatsuki no Umi", "Hatsu Arashi" or "Raiko". I also received some of the "Tie dye" and "Dwarf Creepers" culitvars and am very curious to know what their blooms will look like.

I'm pretty new too Becky. However, I did grow one Morning Glory last year and the flowers were all around the same size. I didn't notice any change as the plant became more mature. Mine were the typical Heavenly Blue ones.

Star of Yelta was the one that got me going on this forum. The great thing about it is that its blooming is not finished by noon. It keeps going after noon and until the evening. It is so wonderful, words fail. Frank

Hi folks!

Morning Glories and another member I bought sees from prompted me to join this morning.

Beautiful flowers Becky! I am new to MGs as well but I already have close to 100 different types of seeds, most planted.

Becky, I am not sure of all the rules on this site yet so I don't want to name site names, but if you do an internet search for the ones you asked about, are easily found. I bought most of my seeds through private people on popular auction sites...I have no doubt you can find your pics with a little searching.

edited for horrible before coffee spelling...

Gardenpom - Oh my! Gorgeous!!! What MG cultivar are they? Very, very pretty! This is off topic but I just have to ask .... do you still have your hummingbird visiting?

My little sprouts are going and most now have their second or third leaves. I can't wait to see flowers on the others I planted in my garden beds. The Star of Yelta MGs have a couple blooms every day now. They are tolerating the heat so far and are starting to climb up the trellis on the fence. I have plenty of trellis on that backyard fence, so they can just go whever their little vining hearts desire! :-)

I am not up on names, I generally plant mixed packs..... I saw my hummer a week or so ago. You really have to be lucky to see one. I have never seen more than two at a time here.
