Hello lily peoples,
I bought calla 'Schwarzwalder' from this site:
http://www.bloomingbulb.com/cartProductDetail.asp?ProductKey=1641&bulb=Calla%20Lily&flower=Schwarzwalder
If you'll notice, they say full sun.
PlantFiles, however, says part shade to full shade:

So what gives? Sun or shade?
Sun or Shade for Calla Schwarzwalder?
I find most callas seem to like part shade up here - mine are in a bed that gets half a day of morning sun.
2zeus,
The sun is quite different here than it is in most other places. It's already a scorcher here. I thought PlantFiles might have said shade because it's a dark calla. Maybe it was just a mistake on somebody's part.

I have mine in full sun and it does fine, last year too. I think you the full sun/part shade is to know that it will grow in both. Maybe someone with a little more experience will chime in too.
Steve if they are in the ground they will tolerate more sun, I read that Z. albomaculata (a species)if in a POT should have more shade. That is slightly different to yours, and if they were in a small plastic pot in severe heat they might not like it. They have different parentage and some will like the sun.
Last year we did have scorching heat to the mid 30'sC (mid 90'sF) and the two I had in larger, thick stone type pots got both sun and some shade and they loved it. I think it depends a lot on position, pot, and size of pot and plant. Humidity will also make a difference, and they like to be kept well watered. I had some new smaller ones in smaller pots on the north side of the bath tub (pond) where they got mostly shade.
This site gives some idea of where some of the species, there are only a few, 7 recognised species from which they have been bred,

I have 2 small bulbs of Z jucunda I grew from seed last year, they seem to like growing amongst rocks where they will get some shelter.
I have several Cala lilies, they're white. They seem to tolerate either sun or shade. I've one standing on South-facing border, and other planted under canopy of larger trees, both are blooming fine this time of year for me. Though, I'm new to Cala in our zone. Some neighbors visiting from NC informed me last year that they (calas) should do fine here, so I tried. It works. :-) (These were planted outdoor - not in pots).

Thanks for the info. Mine will be in the ground, in sun - shade is at a premium.
I can't wait for you to get your shoes.

Thanks for the info.

Wanna swap some sun for shade?
I do hope the shoes do the quick step, I just got some socks after 7 weeks!
