Thanks so much missy99912 for the advance info. I've wanted to attend something on gardening, but most are located at the Huntington Library and that area and are just too far away.

I just love going to this every year. I have also attended a seminar with Pat Walsh which was wonderful. I'm not sure if I can make it this year, but if I do, it will be on Thurs. or Fri. That place is so packed over the weekend and the plants are really picked over by then too.

Missy, are you going?

Hello mombird, nice to meet you. I haven't run into you in the other forums yet. Welcome to this great site.

Yes, Donna, I'm going Thursday morning. I'm planning on going to the 10:00 a.m. orchid lecture. I also went to Pat Walsh's seminar last year - wasn't that great? Please let me know if you're coming that morning!

I've never been before, but I may go on Thursday, not sure. I'd love to hear Pat Welch. I use her book regularly. But she's on Saturday and I doubt if I will be able to go both days. Sounds like the weekend will be really crowded anyway. At any rate, this sounds like a really good event.

Ann, I don't think I'll be able to go Thursday morning now. Sorry.

Wow, this is an unbelievable event. I'm so glad I went. I can see why you go every year Donna.

TLeaves, did you even believe that bed in the koi pond? Wasn't that amazing? And also, on the 3rd floor, that one vendor with all those strange plants. I had never seen anything like them!

What were your favorites?

Ramona, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes, the Koi pond was unbelievable. I'm not sure which part was my favorite. There were so many amazing things. I couldn't believe all the exotic plants all in one place. The folks from the various societies (Clematis, Iris, Native Plant, etc.) were really informative. I went crazy over the Irises, and Plumies. Unfortunately the Clematis I wanted ('Marie Boisselot') was sold out for the day. I couldn't believe the price for the size. Did you get anything?

Mission Viejo, CA(Zone 10a)

You can grow clematis? I've tried and failed miserably. They are so beautiful but I have no luck with them. I bought African violet leaves and a clivia book. I love that they sell the leaves, I think it's much more fun to start small (small price too!). There was a beautiful peony with huge blooms at Cottage Nursery Gardens, but they only had one and it was already sold. She swore that this variety grew well in so Cal - it was called Jules Eli. I'm going to look for one.

Ramona, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes, I like to start small too. :) Can you believe how many things were already sold out? And we got there when they opened! I'm new to Clemetis. I put in 2 earlier this year. So far, they are both doing great. We'll see how well they do when it gets warmer (well, hot).
