That is a Scarab Beetle in the family Scarabaeidae. It looks as if it could be the Oriental Beetle (Anomala orientalis): http://bugguide.net/node/view/14140/bgpage

That is more like it, I agree with claypa, it is Euphoria sepulcralis. Could you add it to BugFiles: http://davesgarden.com/bf/ , we do not have any images of Euphoria sepulcralis so far.
Add it as:
Common Name: Dark Flower Scarab
Order: Coleoptera
Family: Scarabaeidae
Genus: Euphoria
Species: sepulcralis

YW... Isn't that cool? I've only added one, I think just to make a spot for someone to load a picture to... no way my camera will get decent close-ups.
