I was washing my arm pit and hit the back - so what ever you call that place in the back.

We should tie all the ticks to the Road Runner and see if they could catch him.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, the cool thing about the microwave is that the ticks are really dead - but they didn't explode. So DD had a nice show-and-tell project for school. :-)

Hmmm.. A nastier side to Seandor & Harper!

Just teasing Schicken.

Wilkes Barre, PA(Zone 6a)

my b/f found a tick the other day on the dog. He got it drunk with Gin. (he CLAIMS he couldn't find the rubbing alchohol!...LOL)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How many shots did it take??

Wilkes Barre, PA(Zone 6a)

lol

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

lol..... lol..... I found a fat tick (dead) today... nino had 3 pulled out already.... Lilly just one so far.... I am going to shave them.... just to be safe... and of course nobody is going to the woods... one small trip to the woods the day Michaela visited me and I got one!!! no more!!! I flush them in the toilett... fat thicks are so gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I love it . . . fat "thicks" - how poetic! Sometimes typos are just inspired :-)

LOL - good one.

Fort Edward, NY(Zone 5a)

UUGGHH Kassia-they are so gross-arent they?? And the fatter, the more disgusting they are.

Just wanted to let y'all know, we are now almost "tickless". Saw 1 on hubby yesterday, but that was after hubby went somewhere in the bushes he knew he shouldn't have.
YAY!

Dawn, that's fantastic! I'll bet you sleep better at night.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

lol.... count on me to make it laughable......

Dawn, when I was growing up my next door neighboor had a german sheppard and their dog was constantly infested.... the poor thing had no rest.... and they had no woods... well one day I looked over the brick wall that devided our property and saw this long row of ticks.... I started screeming and my mom and I washed every inch of our side with creolina... the smell is not so bad... so we keept our side clean that way....

I found one on Nino... and 2 bites on Lilly... she has such a hard time with bites.... her skin is really sensitive!!!

Assonet, MA(Zone 6b)

Dawn; I don't mean to be negative, but if you have only had your home and not your property sprayed (especially where you know there are infestations), the ticks will "walk" right back into your home on a member of the family. Best of luck with all this.

Fort Edward, NY(Zone 5a)

Oh Kassia-that poor Shephard! Thats so sad....
Is there any kind of shampoo for Lillys sensitive skin? How about a collar? We have been treating my dog with frontline and checking him regularly. Yes, dh had been pulling ticks off him left and right. He is a really lovable, mushy Golden Retriever-who hates sitting still and having us check him....

Hi Daisey-I did have my whole property sprayed. I had just had a survey done to install a fence-they sprayed from one end of my property to the other, up to all 4 markers that the surveyors put in the ground. They also sprayed the foundation, doors and windows of my home, and the entire interior. In fact, I signed a contract with the company. They will be spraying again in July, and 1 more time in October. Yes, the problem really was THAT bad....

I love having a beautiful farm next to me. I guess this just comes along with it.

Dawn I'm so glad you were so thorough. We moved into the same situation, years back, it was dreadfull. On a positive note - since we sprayed, no one in my family (including our golden), has been bothered. :)

Fort Edward, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks daisey-I am really hoping this is it....I have to tell you, the few weeks before the spraying was done was truly horrible. I never would have thought that something like this could completely and totally take over our lives-but it did. I couldnt sleep, and my poor kids were trapped in the house, and I was forever checking them. They were in the house too, but they totally took over our whole yard. DH couldnt wait to go to work every day....

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, Dawn I use natural herb smelling drops on Lilly... and try to keep her really short almost shaved all summer... this way I can see quick and she stays away from the grass...
it took years to find a shampoo that would actually work for her... I have been washing her with Castile Soap (which is the only shampoo/soap I use it myself!!!!!) and she has not gotten NO skin problems... so I try not to complicate things...

glad things are getting better... it's trully a very upseting situation...

Fort Edward, NY(Zone 5a)

Glad you found something to help her. Is the castille soap something like Dr. Bronners?
~Dawn

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, Dr. Bronner's is.

Fort Edward, NY(Zone 5a)

I love Dr. Bonners. I use it on myself often, and they also make a formula for babies that I use on my 2 little ones. My son has eczema, and its the only thing that doesnt irritate his skin.
