So, what are you doing this weekend?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Kassia, Wow! That will be awesome!!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

wow is right! my knees ache a bit from the hillside thing, but so far so good. I had a lot of grass creep in while I was out of commission last spring and summer and it's a nuisance to dig out, but it's coming out!
Martha

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

lol.... give me sun and I will be happy! I understand why people worshiped the sun! not that I feel like doing it but I certainly feel the difference from last week... it was pretty bad... and of course I spent way more than I expected... this landscape alone is really expensive... I can't just imagine if I had to pay full price... I probably would never had done...

I just woke up... of course Lilly wakes me up at least 2 times every night... she asks to go out and I do it... she has diabetes and she pees a lot... It's a gorgeous night... so pleasant.... so I went to see the plants... they are outside today for the first time... I am glad they are ok... I am limping - my heel is very painful... but I look foward in spending the day outside again....

one thing I have to say about Denio (the landscaper) he is really good... his work is really great.... a perfectionist... which can not be said off the people that works for him.... they do good work, but Denio goes around and really do spot cleaning... the main rose garden is spotless... the beds are even and around is all clean... he told me he is coming to finish... I hope so... the one thing it drove nuts is that he tells you 9am... but he really mean 1 pm.... so you have to call him and play nice/mean.... I know him for very long time now and I just tell him that this is not so good for him.... if he had stayed here it would probably taken half of the day to do it all.

I am posting pictures... this is by far one of the most extravagant thing I ever did... and I hope that from now on things will be easier. I had a few moments of frustration yesterday but I hope when it's all done, it will be beautiful

I want to plant some linaria tomorrow... and also get the daisies, purple cone flowers planted.... so much fun! the veggie beds are also filled... I have tons of sweet peas.... I have to give them support right??? ah, I think now I am a gardener... I am working hard like you guys.... finally I feel like I made my debut into the group!
I am in mighty company!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

I wish I had accomplished something yesterday. I got company...twice! DS was here with kids. DGD brought pics from her trip to Europe...she's an excellent photographer. got some really good night shots of the Tower Bridge in London, the old city in Toledo, Spain. so many things. she had a wonderful time. no sooner had they left, I was outside checking on my w/s seedlings, when my niece (who lived with me for a year) and her little girl stopped by... hadn't seen her in almost 2 years.

Kass, you're amazing! I don't know how you do it all.

Martha, I'm sure you're playing catchup. Bet it feels good, though. sounds like a wonderful day! and I didn't know osmacote was a verb LOL

pirl, I'm trying to decide if I should put out a trap for the j beetles or not. a lot of the neighbors do. I was hoping the beetles would go to their traps and leave me alone.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I got company yesterday too. So I only got 3 flower beds cleaned out and have of one side of the lawn raked. Not a very profitable day as far as yard work goes. Never did get around to putting up the GH, hopefully today, and if I get company I'm going to enlist their help getting up!!
BTW...This is what Lineria(sp) looks like , my 1st bloom!!

I'm doing lots of yard work! Finally spring is HERE! Spreading crab grass killer/fertilizer, planting some bleeding hearts, a few Yarrows, Starting some Elephant ears, repotting a few sarrs. (american pitcher plants) preping the flower beds, etc.

I LOVE IT!

While everyone did planting and cleaning and making - I just did destroying. Tried to move plants out of the path of the trencher laying my gas line - some jumped into my neighbor's yard - some went to places they don't belong and one went into a crate in the garage. Sigh. Tore down the stone retaining wall that friends built me last year, dug ditch paths for the trencher. Made two trips to my favorite deconstruction site for logs to use for raised bed planters. Me and my trusty bow saw cut pieces from downed trees. Found a wonderful daffodil blooming and dug up a patch and moved them into my garden along with a few mystery tulips from yesterday. Picked up a couple of rocks for my wall - when it gets rebuilt. Tore out a bunch more strawberry plants and gave them to anyone who would take some. Still have dozens more. The ones I saved and put in a raised bed are looking good and the daffodils along the walk are really peppy with all the Starbuck's coffee ground mulch I give them.

pixie, the linaria is really sweet. I hope i get mine to grow.

I have to pace myself, but I did get some roses pruned and some other perennials cleaned up. and I supervised the landscapers...they finished the stone wall on the lake side of the cottage garden today (yea!)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Daffs are very pretty Gram, mine are at least out of the ground.....will be a few weeks before I see blooms. I did see theses in Aunties tulip bed, they beat the crocus this year!

hi everyone! another long day gardening... got up at 7am.... and started planting roses around 9 am.... great day.... all the l3 fragant lavender roses were planted!!!!! the easiest thing .... I love planting on raised beds.... the only problem is that the soil and compost were really heavy... I had to add a huge amount of peat moss.... that was bad... so I ended up spending more time than I expected but it's done. at least one bed is completly done... (in terms of roses....!!!!)

then I planted 7 more roses.... water all the plants and worked on the veggie beds... so I am tired, sunburned, mosquitos had a party bitting me until I sprayed....lol....
I had some unexpected company today so I could not really finish it... so I plan to get up early and get some linaria planted....

have a great night !!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You had a very successful month this weekend, Kass. Get some much deserved rest. Don't dream of Blackspot and Japanese Beetles.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Good morning!!!! oh the forsytis are blooming!!!!! and some other trees are blooming too.... oh it's so beautiful!!!!

got up early water all the plants, took pictures and it was so nice and peaceful...if only I could garden all day and finish some things....

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

victor, those are neighbors' homes. we all back up on this man-made lake.

kassia, you are amazing. I don't know how you did all that, but congratulations!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, jp and bs(black spot) would be nigthmares.... unless I dream on how to eradicate them forever!

Gram, it's pure madness.... I just came back from home... went there to check on the plants.... water some of the perenials on little pots...

my brugs are huge... and for some reason some are wilting.... I water this morning and also just now.... I have no clue if they are full sun.... let me check! it would be a shame if they die now~

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, finally, here are the pictures of what I did last weekend. First, I dug up daffodils in the triangle garden.

Giving the dafs a new home. My neighbour is helping me in exchange for lots of little baby plants. :-)

What the triangle garden looked like after amending the soil (man - that was hard work - with a pitch fork - turning over all the soil, adding stuff, raking it out . . . !)

Planted with pansies. It actually looks better now with the mauve azaleas blooming in the background.

The last picture was rather dark, but it was late in the afternoon when I finished. Here is a close up of the pansies. We are the first on our street to have flowers in the garden :-)

Left over pansies were put in planters on the front steps. The plants on the stairs are small dahlias that I probably started to early . . . oh, well, if it gets cold, I can always pull the dahlias inside.

The seedlings are petunias in the foreground. In the background is a patriotic seed mix, (blue cornflower, red poppy, and white babies breath). I will donate those to be planted on the terrace. Maybe by Memorial Day weekend, the plants will be large enough to go into gardens.

Nice job! Isn't a Canadian flag easier to grow for?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yep, Dave 47. But I was given these seeds as a package. Decided to winter sow them - and darn, if they didn't all sprout! They are all potted up in little paper pots now (about 75 plants, I think). so all I need is some big, strong (male) neighbours to dig the garden on the terrace, and in they will go.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Sounds like a plan!
