Ever since I saw the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" with Reese Witherspoon,
I have been intrigued when lightning hits the sand.
The resulting objects are known as fulgurites.

I'm curious to know if anyone is familiar with this process, or
if anyone has done such? The movie fudged a bit, it would appear,
as I seem to remember one of the characters put poles into the
ground, the lightning hit, and presto, a beautiful work of art. What
I see in the links appear to be small pieces, not big sculptures.
Ah, Hollywood.
I don't intend to try it myself, I'm just intrigued. Very cool!
And if you think that is cool, check this out:

Does anyone make FULGURITES?
