growing out some crosses

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

These are second generation picotee crosses. I`m doing these just to see what happens when you put plant A with plant B.

So far I have some interesting leaves showing up.

Here is one interesting leaf that has less fuzz than the others. It looks different.

In my grow out of 2nd generation ukigumo/youjiro out of about 30 seedlings I got one light yellow/green solid leaf and a few with variegation.

I've had a couple of seeds grow out with almost solid white leaves. They don't do well, and die off after they get their first true leaves. Maybe the lack of chlorophyll doesn't allow them to process light? Anybody else have that happen?

It might be a gentic trait. I had a few like that last year.

I've had white leaves too with daylily. You're right they don't survive very long because they can't make chlorophyll. I have a brugmansia that throws out albino shoots and they don't last very long even though the rest of the plant is normal.

Gardener, can't wait to see flowers of your crosses. The first batch of my F2 generation of my minibar picotee cross was very disappointing. I have another batch just starting to climb and they look at bit more robust than the last batch.

I meant genetic...too many edits.

X, you will not always see complete results from first generation. I think if you grow enough you might have something interesting show up in this one. If you do get something you like then you can try selfing and grow more to see if it becomes stable.
