Keep Mainiac in your thoughts today....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi all.....
Many of you know Mainiac and I wanted to let you know her area is being hit hard today. She lives in Cape Elizabeth here on the coast of Maine and it's being pounded with 81 mph wind gust and 25ft waves. There are many areas with closed roads, trees and power lines down, and reports of BOULDERS being tossed across people's yards. There is one house on the coast that they believe will fall into the ocean today from the pounding surf.
Please keep her (and many others) in your thoughts today and hope she and her lilies survive unharmed.

Maniac is in my thoughts. I know she was worried about this weather coming.
Cheers to the thaw that is coming and the safety of the residents of the area.

Oh, my, how awful. I heard in some areas 100 mile per hour winds. There's reports of flooding in NYC and people actually going down streets in boats.

Let's also hope that our Federal Gov. responds properly and promptly, should the residents need them.

Sure hope she and everyone else comes out just fine.

Hard to believe it's so bad. I hope she and her family (and garden!) come through this okay.

Thank you to all who have posted, I know it will warm her heart when she reads this!
From what I hear, it may be several days before the power is restored in the southern part of Maine. There are 125,000 w/out power and the coast and southern part of the state were the hardest hit. We still have another day of high winds and rain to deal with before this storm leaves our area. We also have a high tide due in @ 11pm and they fear it will sweep 7 house's out to sea when it comes in. This mornings tide has already claimed a V.W. Jetta that was sitting in the driveway to one of those house's.
I hope as you all do, that Romona is safe with her family, far away from the ocean!

Pixie, you stay safe too, ok?

Awe,thanks Ticker!
I'm pretty safe...at least 30 minutes to the ocean from my house. Where I live is considered "Central" Maine, we did get our share of wind and rain! The surf combined with the winds off the ocean is really giving the state a beating down Mainiac's way! I have family down there and they said it's bad, one of the worst they have seen in a very long time!

Here's one of our news stations if you would like to read or watch videos of what is happening here:

How close to the coast does Mainac live? Pixie I'm glad you're inland a bit.. :)

Cape Elizabeth looks pretty coastal.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Yeah, but does she live on the shore line??? or inland two or three miles?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I did hear from her today ;) and she is doing okay, but her home is without power. The winds are still strong.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Good. As long as she's ok.. :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Cape Elizabeth is totally coastal. Hopefully her house is not right on the water, too many homes are losing their foundations and are endanger of slippimg into the ocean. Watch the video on this link and you will get a good idea of what im talking about. Also, at the bottom of the page it has slideshows, click on #4 and it gives you an idea of whats happening inland.

I am fine! But thanks for your concerns and thoughts! I live about a mile inland from the ocean. We lost power for 36 hours. And we had some minor water in the basement. But luckily we had the use of a generator to run the heat and refrigeration. But the area is hard hit with MANY trees uprooted and across power lines. Lots of detours going to and from work. But I am safe and sound. And happy to have my computer back! DH is suffering from a bad shoulder (possible rotor cup problem) so he hasn't been able to do much to help. But we are one of the lucky ones. I am sure your good thoughts and prayers kept me that way.
BTW, our power was restored by some wonderful workers for New Brunswick Canada. So thank you, Canada, for sending you men and equipment to help us out.
Now if the water levels would just drop and spring would get here!
