.....or more precisely Sambucus pubens is the only noteworthy "Plant of Bloom" in my backyard on this cold, cloudy dreary day and "yes" we currently have light snow flurries!

Scarlet Elder/American Red Elder......
Good looking plant, despite the precipitation.
All is naught here, save some late 'Cayuga' viburnum flowers that weren't open yet when the blast hit. Funny looking next to all the brown ones that were open before the cold.
Besides some wetness, what does Sambucus pubens require culturally to look like your plant?
In reality, I don't have "great conditions" for growing this high elevation plant! In the South it's range is confined to the highest mountains and is usually situated on humid north facing slopes. In it's natural environment, I've never seen this species growing under ~4000 elevation so I'm assuming my plants feel like they're in a oven during the "Hot Summertime"
BTW, once the birds find the ripened red clusters of fruit, they disapear in short order!

So...I guess that means that the Ohio River valley and the Bluegrass would be torture for the species. Oh well...I'll enjoy it from afar with you as raconteur...
