I have oriental lilies which had grown up nearly a foot before we had close to a week of nighttime temps well below freezing. I was out of town for most of that time and the garden was dry as well.
The lilies look completely dead. What is the prognosis here? If I want lilies this year, should I start buying?
Freeze damage
Yup. The bulbs are probably OK, you just won't get blooms on the ones that froze. I suggest you just cut them back and order some new ones.
I finally went and looked at my damage today from the freeze. Some Asiatics look perfect and others right next to each other are a pile of mush. My row of Triumphators look horrible, I do not expect anything from those this year :o(
I put in about a hundred or so new ones last year and was waiting for the great show, guess I will have to wait another year.
The orientals are not up yet here.
