ID accomplished - MEALY BUGS! Eeeeeeeew!

What am I? This scaley little thing is all over my Passiflora - starts in the joints, then spreads out to leaves. It's white and powdery looking, but when you squish it or spray it, it turns red like it's bleeding. Doesn't seem to have bothered anything else in the sunroom, but the passi has it bad.

I'm trying for a photo, but not having much success.

Mealie bugs. I lost 11 huge hibiscus due to them over winter. I am still finding them but not as bad and squishing away since i don't use pesticides

Dis-gust-ing!!! The first time I squished one and it "bled" I considered cutting my fingers off - too gross!

I'm getting far too accustomed to whiteflies. And the year before last I got my first brugs and have now become accustomed to aphids and spider-mites, but these are the absolute worst. Ewwwww!

Thanks for the ID!

alcohol and water in a spray bottle will take care of them.
