Beautiful!!!

Patsy, they do really well here. Love the sun and are somewhat drought tolerant.

beautiful....wonder if it would like being in a pot in the house? Can you tell I have zone envy at the moment?

Atmore, AL(Zone 8b)

There's a house down the street from me that has a circular drive lined with these. They are beautiful.

That really is pretty. Remember when Fette went around on tour and hit your house? It would have been really cool to photograph him in that shrub so everyone would drool.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh yeah. He would love it.

Yes, and a fun pic too!

I still have one of mine. He's hanging out in a terrarium. Do you still have one?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yep, I do. Hanging out in one of my pots.

Schriever, LA(Zone 9a)

Rylaff that is spectacular! I have one also and it has just finished blooming. My bottlebrush will also put out a second, smaller flush in the fall. Does yours do that also?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, it does. I just planted another one because I love this one so.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Simply beuatiful!!! How old is yours? How big do they have to be before getting a bloom?

Madison, IL(Zone 6b)

Oh please! You're killing me. I've always wanted one, but don't have the space. Yours is so beautiful! Now I'm trying to figure out if maybe I have space after all. That's a very striking bush.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I bought this one as a small bush. It took about 3 years for it to start blooming. This one cascades down like a weeping willow tree does. The one I just bought is small but it bloomed already. But the new one, the branches are upright and dont droop.

greenbrain, please do not shoot the messenger but...
Bottlebrush = Callistemon citrinus

Me thinks you and me be a little bit too far north to grow Callistemon. You might want to check out the zone hardiness on that plant before you get too attached to it and find a place to plant one in your yard.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't mind at all, but rather appreciate it. I just like anything bottlebrush & crimson red. I was thinking of Red Buckeye or Bottlebrush Buckeye. Yeah, I want both of them. They also grow in zone 8. Lucky!

The Aesculus pavia (Red Buckeye) should be fine by us. I've seen that shrub a few times in bloom and it is really showy.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I've both of the upright, and weeping bottlebrush shrubs. My 3+ year-old upright type is putting out flower buds, the weeping is 2 year old, and tad smaller. Though, these are in 18" pot (weeping), and half wiskey barrel pot. They survives outdoor and are doing quite well. I also love those buckeyes.
