What a great trip! Must have been quite the experience, seeing hoyas growing out in the wild, unconfined, running up trees and fraternizing with the native flora. Makes my little 4-inch pots seem so...staid...in comparison. How about leaves? Did you say which were your favorite as far as color/pattern? I have a variegated macrophylla cutting I rec'd from a generous soul on the this board I'm trying to root, and love the pictures I've seen of the pink/cream and green foliage.

Hoyas in Hawaii
While looking at pictures on these hoya pages, I found this red flower. I copied the name :H. 'Kaimuki' Does anyone know where I can find this hoya? Is it very hard to grow?
Thank you.

Oh. I forgot. it is the 4th picture.

lovingrogs: This is a very old thread from a year ago so I don't know if anyone will see it to answer your question. If you do a google search for hoya kaimuki you might be able to find a source for it.
Lovinfrogs,
I see you've been posting on very old threads. That's totally fine, but if you have a new post that's unrelated to the topic, it's best to start a new thread. That way, people won't get confused and think this it's a recent post (like me!), and it's also not so fun to have to scroll down to the bottom of an old thread for an unrelated question. Hope you get what I'm saying :)

Oh, I'm so envious. Someday, we will go to Hawaii....
Yes, great photos and you're a great narrator, as well.
Carol...do you have more than one H. aff. finlaysonii?
I purchased one (Love it...no matter what it is!) but my blooms don't look like the one above.
I can send you a photo if you like.
Oooh, I'm so glad someone "bumped" this thread ... I sure have enjoyed the 2007 tour once again!
... and here I go again, writing down names of beautiful hoyas for my "wish" list!
I want ... subcalva, vitelliana, archboldiana, lobbii, IML 1391, chlorantha, pachyclada - that's probably every single hoya Mark posted photo's of! ^_^
Nan, Wow, you were up early! Kinda sounds like me ... I stay up until midnight or 1:00 a.m. and then am usually up by 7:30. But, I don't have to go to work! I have never been one to be able to nap during the day ... sometimes it does catch up to me though and I will fall asleep sitting in the chair!
That Hoya is a Beauty! I have a small H. aff. finlaysonii that I got in a trade from Brenda ... can't wait for it to grow up and bloom! Is it fragrant? Sure is a pretty flower!
Nan....great photo of the flowers before they recurve...yes, that looks like the aff. finlaysonii....I love those leaves!!!!
Thanks Carol!
I love the foliage too...that's why I ordered it in the first place. The flowers were just a nice bonus.
Here's another at a different stage...
Thank you too, Lin for the compliment....I don't think it was fragrant, at least not at that 'moment'..the photo was taken mid-day....you know how many hoyas seem to have noticeable fragrance only late-evening or early morning....so maybe that's why, or...maybe it's not at all fragrant.....I guess I honestly can't answer that question!
Lin...I didn't get up at that time purposely..had fallen asleep on the couch w/ a really bad headcold....woke up intending to go to bed and couldn't get back to sleep! I knew if I took any night time cold meds, I wouldn't be able to get up w/the kids to get them off to school....so I simply stayed up!
WOW, great pics, everyone! I feel the hoya "bug" starting to bite again! Dang, I hate (love) when that happens! I'm off to check the online hoya catalogs....
