Here is the second chachamaru bloom the inside plant has produced. I don't know if this one is more star-shaped or just not open all the way yet.
More signs of life
Beth is your Ipomoea holubii inside or outside? I like the looks of that one. Where did you get it?
bolusiana was in the greenhouse all winter to protect it from freezing...they do go dormant in the winter, and you are supposed to stop watering them. As soon as it sprouted last week I brought it in the house and put it in the front window so I'll remember to give it a little water. This one is about ten years old, and they can be found from "fat plant" or caudiciform nurseries. This one came from The Great Petaluma Desert nursery in California, but other websites also offer them. They are not always in stock.

Thanks Beth...
Beth - what sort of trellis/support do you have for your chachamaru? Any chance of a picture showing it in more detail?
Joanne
I can photograph the whole plant tonight. It is still very small so I 'm suprised it has been blooming.
Here are the links to I. holubii and I. bolusiana

They are similar caudiciforms.
That chaca maru looks pretty neat, very different than the photo too.
I love your caudiciforms.
Cool trellis Beth, and yes they are lovely blooms.
Did you make the trellis?
Joanne
It looks the right size for Chachamaru. That is a lovely little plant you got there. The different bloom shapes I suspect might be caused by temperature changes. Some of mine showed that shape when nights were cool and then the blooms were rounder when it was warm. I`m unsure if that is the case with yours but it was something I noted with my youjiro type flowers.
I just wrapped around some garden border fence for the trellis....it is metal coated with green paint and there are spikes on the bottom to stick in.
Thanks for sharing Beth. Looks like it works like a charm!
Joanne
No doubt that is a money saver and very clever!
What a nice pot. Thanks for the photos.
A.
Cheerful looking flower that chachamaru! Forgive me for my ignorance Beth, but is that green wire fencing you described the same as the stuff you buy in sets of 5 or 6 and then link the sections together? Do you then leave your MG on it permanently afterwards?
Tks,
Erynne
No, this doesn't come in sections. It comes in a roll and it's called "garden border" or edging. You can cut it so size or bend it to the shape of the container you are using.
