I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Avian Mister: http://www.birdbaths.com/bird-bath-accessories/misters--drippers--wigglers/products.cfm?action=view&key=BNP003
It's a "rock" base that sprays out a fine mist of water for the hummers. I got a mister on ebay last year that attaches to a pole but I wasn't impressed with it-I couldn't adjust the mist the way I wanted it and it was just kind of cheesy. This one looks like it would be better to me.
Thanks!
Deb
PS-can anyone tell me how to properly insert links? I know there's a better way!

Ya know...you can just as easily hook up your garden hose with a nozzle that either sprays a gentle shower or mist and let it run for a hour or so. If you develop a daily schedule the hummies will start showing up on a regular basis to bathe.
I sometimes hang the hose over a tree limb and let the water fall onto the lower branches of the tree. Was able to photograph a hummie enjoying the gentle shower :o)
Have also found that one hummie takes a 'shower' each morning using the morning dew on the large leaves of my chalice vine. Have watched the little bugger rub itself on the leaves then it will go perch on a nearby trellis to preen and spruce up :o)

Here's one of another hummie taking it's morning bath. This little bugger shows up around 8am to 9am most mornings. It rubs itself against the leaves of my chalice vine to soak up the morning dew. It's just too fast and I'm too sleepy to get a good photo :o)

Thanks, Cat. Those are nice pictures! The thing is that I work really weird hours and it's difficult to set up any sort of a schedule to do anything. I would rather put it on a schedule because then I would know when the little buddies were more likely to come so I would have a better opportunity to take photos. I thought having a continuous mist was better than having one every once in a while. I suppose I could put the mister on a timer of some sort . . .
Anyway, thanks for sharing!
