Me too, keeping my fingers crossed here for you.... boy, it has been a long time that I've seen a baby bud. I'm glad you posted this photo.. When did you sow your seeds if you don't mind me asking.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

A, I sowed it on Feb 21and have it under regular fluorescent lights. Seeds were from Burpee, I'm just hoping for a solid bloom!!

Will this be the week, Ronnie, for flowers?

Nope buds don't look any bigger...?

Ronnie, Hope you get your answer soon and that it's good news.

Could you please please tell me where the MG flower buds form - it is right at the base of the leaf petiole? {Or have I asked one of those insanely complex questions and it's actual different depending on the MG}.

Hi Joanne,

You have observed correctly, that is where probably most MGs make their flowers.

Thanks for replying Joseph - most appreciated! Now I'm really excited, because I believe a number of my MG's are getting little flower buds. Woo hoo!
(Sorry luvsgrtdanes for sneaking this on to your thread...)

Joanne,

Here also are a few pictures showing the bud forming at the leaf internode:

Thanks Arlan - those are great photos.
As I mentioned above, I see little buds forming at the base of the leaves of some of my morning glories; I assumed they were either: 1) another leaf, 2) a flower bud or 3) an extension of the vine. It looked to me (and correct me if I'm wrong) that morning glories have opposite leaves, so I figured the new buds were not leaves. That left two options; either the new growth is an extension of the vine, or a flower bud. The teeny little growth looks a lot like the flower buds in your pix.

All MG's have ALTERNATE leaves...

Oh yeah, that's what I meant. NOT opposite. LOL.
