CLOSED: what kind of caterpillar is this?
Take a look a the Forest Tent Caterpillar Moth, Malacosoma disstria
http://davesgarden.com/bf/go/677/
I'm reading that they prefer trees but will eat ornamental shrubs and vegetables. The Bt sprays will kill them, and definitely remove as many larvae as you can, and any webs you see.
i get them here this time of year too. they seem to be everywhere for a short time. i recently read that molasses and water sprayed on the plants will repel any caterpillar. apparently they hate the taste. i've always used Bt and haven't tried this yet, but you may want to just to see what happens.
