Here is I. floridus, 11 days after sowing, it germinated in 3 days. From the 28th to the 8th, it still has its hemet on. hmm. This is so dissappointing because this is the specie from the Canary Islands, at 28+ degerees N L, the one with hundreds of buds and blooms that Beth posted. I will use the paper towel method on the remainng seeds and hope for the best. This was of course was the most dissappointing one, of the ten species I used to fill this shelf of the bakers rack. Frank, keep up the misting (use warm water several times a day)... and leave that piece of wet towel on.. I even go so far as to put on a bigger clear cup on top as a dome over it while the seedcoats get softer and come off on their own. Just turn a cup upside down on top of the styrofoam cup (a clear cup or some seran wrap) will work.

I had a terrible time germinating I. floridus, too. The first ones I tried did not make it. I think I still have a few more, though.
