Thankyou Dee - Wonderful to see a modern photo similar to Hiroshige's woodcut from around 1856. A great deal of his work is free and online from: http://www.hiroshige.org.uk/hiroshige/100_views_edo/100_views_edo.htm , which also makes many old books on this subject available, too.

The one your pic reminds me of is No. 11 in the series, 100 Famous Views of Edo, and in my files, I label it:

Hiroshige_KiyomizuTmpl_ShinobazuPond_Ueno

Would you like for me to post any more woodcuts of Shinobazu Pond from Hiroshige I?

Bluespiral,

It's spring and I was just sharing a picture with Cherry Blossoms. My picture is in Kyoto with the Golden Pavilion in the background. If you like woodblock prints I can send you some 8x10 reproduction of the most famous ones. D-Mail me your address.

Dee, is a cherry blossom ever just a cherry blossom? That's very generous of you to offer reproductions and I do appreciate it, but ownership would get in the way of appreciation, for me.

Houston, TX

There are 3 types that I know of and the blossoms will produce a small berry like fruit but they`re not eatable.

The reproductions I spoke of are sold at local souvenir shops and there are 5 different reproduction per pack. They`re printed on nice thick paper too. No problem, thought you were a collector.
