Imagine that? It has been blistering hot here. I got a little sunburn on the back of my neck and arms and here it is going to be cold enough to kill the plants tonight. I brought in a bunch last night and covered what seemed like the entire yard with sheets and any old shirts I could find. It seemed like I needed another and another when I thought I had everything covered.
Beth, what was I thinking!!!!!! I have so many plants now. :0)
Tonight it will get down to 35 or below and while this isn`t really bad cold for us or the more established plants it will likely kill the young plants. Everything has to come inside. I`m going to have to transplant some more expensive varieties to be brought in. I`m going to just grow those in pots rather than transplant them back out again.
I`m going to cover everything that I have plenty of seeds that can be replaced easy if they die and bring all the more rare expensive ones inside.
What a busy day and very unseasonal for our area.
Cold Front/ Bringing the morning glories inside
It was terribly windy here and still is, only this morning it was so cold too along with the wind. Some of the doves were blown right off the trees.
I don't have much outside yet, just cactus that we brought with us. But the rows of radishes had sprouted and I think they are goners with the wind blowing off the soil around the roots..
Back to square one, good thing those grow fast.

It's suppose to get into the upper 20's here for a few hours! I'm just glad I've been lazy this week. If I had not, I would have been decimated. I just came in from bringing all the pots outside into the greenhouse and yesterday I got the gh heater out of storage. The only things left are the canna, confederate rose, brugmansia that are in the ground and datura which are in containers too heavy to move.
When the wind dies down I will be dotting the landscape with buckets, trashcans, laundry baskets and boxes and laying sheets over the canna, confederate rose and brugmansia. Except for the datura, if the canna, confederate rose, and brugs get burnt they will come back. The datura will get towels laid over the containers. The main thing is to water, water, water.
My fervent wish is that the I cordatotriloba which is trying to eat my neighborhood gets knocked back a good bit. I've noticed a lot of the seeds just starting to sprout (i pull them up the second i see them). If this hard freeze can kill at least half of them we will be much better off.
