Looking for Ukigumo or Sazanami

Houston, TX

This year I haven`t seen any online or in the stores and we`ll continue to locate them. (Parent seeds if possible.)
Let me know what you want in trade.

I`m growing the Ukigumo right now and it looks very good and they have just begun to vine. The leaves look correct with the bright light yellowish green foilage and I hope the flowers are true to type as well. It will be while before I get seeds but I do hand pollinate them. I also have only one seedling of the Sazanami light color and I`m hoping for seeds to give for SASEs the first five posts and maybe a few trade offers but it depends on if it makes plenty of seeds or not. Time will tell.

This is the Ukigumo I grew last year. This one is my most favorite. The color goes from very blue to streaked blue to almost pearly white with barely perceptable blue. The flowers at the last stage looked like pearls in flower shape and I really loved growing them.

I`m curious. What are parent seeds?

Just the seeds from the original package. We contacted Nichinou seeds company and asked if they can provide us with any of the seeds from last year and is waiting on their answer. Also we`ve emailed a few Japanese sellers asking for them. Now we`re just waiting to see what comes out of this.

I have seeds of Sazanami, parent seeds still in the commercial packet.

MGJapan,

I should have some of the Dark and The Light Sazanami, but will need to look to see how many seeds. These are in the packets From Japan that have been opened.
Let me know if you still need any and I'll find out what I have.
*ha* and wouldn't you know that I JUST got your envelope in the mail to you.

Hey Emma,

That would be great. This year many of the commercial seeds that were available last year have not hit the stores and you know I've been looking. Garden2005 had asked us about the Light Sazanami seeds and we can't find any at all. But we're still looking and waiting to hear from the seed company and a few sellers.
