It jumps and is active nocturnally. If this gets in to the bedroom you can't sleep... it makes a shrill sound, continuously. There is the other blacker cricket too with a harder covering with a tough look whose sound is even more shriller. I wonder what this is? And to top it, it can hide when you go in search of it at when it is in the bedroom (to disturb sleep)!!

It's definitely a cricket. It's probably in the sub-family of field crickets called Gryllinae. Crickets change the frequecy of their chirping with the temperature too.
