Many questions...Help! Newbie..

Riley, Right next th, KS(Zone 5b)

Hello, I'm Jen (:O) aka.. "dog called poot"
I have several questions as I am new to Japanese Morning Glories. This is a WONDERFUL new obsession for me! I gotta thank you! I've started hundreds!!.lol...JMG-anon, Here I come! (grin)
My seedlings are between 6 and 7 inches tall now. Thanks to your previous threads and good instructions, I've gotten my new hobby started off in great shape! I'm Excited!
However, I am having a hard time finding previously written threads containing information on training the vines to the traditional round trellis, and pinching techniques. I would like to try the latter also at some time. How are these things accomplished? If anyone would direct me to a good source for this information. I would be most appreciative. How is training to trellis done? I would love to learn to do it. I have a huge window that is perfect for having a few inside if I can get them on trellis..What is the spiral method? How is that done?..So many Questions..(sigh)

My second question has to do with insect/disease control. This is where it gets a bit complicated on my end. I know everyone has a different way of doing things, and I don't want to cause debate, just some brain storming... I need a fairly low impact, feasable, way to do this, as I have Rhuematiod arthritis. I need a control program I can handle. I can carry light sprayers (2 gal.) Systemics are good.
In other words, I would like to keep it pretty simple, and I know I will have to put up with a few things I don't admire in the pest catagory. Organic methods are great as long as they don't wear me out or break the bank. What are your Ideas? What would you do to keep the nasties down if you couldn't move too well at times?

My third question is really for my Mom, She is interested in getting a commercial grower, full spectrum, season simulating, nursery light installed so that I can grow a few of these inside in a 14X14 foot room. From seed start to bloom. Blooming being the big goal. Where might I go to look into buying one of these? Since I love this so much, she would like me to have this hobby year around so that I have something fun to do.( I had to give up most of the hobbies that I had before RA .) Any suggestions on brands and companies? Is there anything else I should know about these Lights? Does any Seller of these do consultations? maybe by phone? I don't really know what I am talkng about here, but I am hoping you might have ideas. She would like to get a lighting system for me.

Sorry there are so many questions in this topic...(Sheepish Grin) ... I have been searching the previous threads and can't find these particular topics covered. The rest of the threads have proved an irreplacable education... You all are really great, thorough teachers!
I thank you for all of you help!
I need lots of Ideas, If you can spare some... Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Thanks in advance for any answers/suggestions you might be able to offer! (:O)

I love these JMG's!! They are breathtaking!

PS. I will post seedling photo's soon. (:O)

Hi Gerris! (:O)
The Sellers at Ebay really have made this a great year for me! If I could send them all Superman t-shirts, I would.. (:O) I am so glad to have stumbled upon JMG's....and many other unusual MG's. This a great passion for me to have along with peonies. It's far nicer because the bloom period is longer and the digging isn't as rigorous. I used to do Roses... Hey Jen, I'm an MG addict with RA, too! I used to feel sorry for myself until my sister got MS. Then I realized I would rather have RA than MS, any day! I just handle the limitations by pacing myself. Instead of going out and doing the whole job in two hours I will do smaller increments of time spaced out through the day. The most frustrating thing is when I am shovelling dirt and my hand "locks up" on the shovel handle and it's hard to let go! Argggh! Are you a methotrexate or humira user, or both?

Riley, Right next th, KS(Zone 5b)

Hi Beth! well, I went through the initial RA burn out, and am on the other side of it re-learing how to live. (:O) Yep, Methotrexate and plaquinil on board. I thought would jump headlong into my fascination with botany to keep busy and get excersize. I know people who are alot worse off also. I don't think I have it so bad comparitively either. I still don't like taking it easy! I like to work Alot. I have yet to wrestle a shovel this year... I hope I can do it pretty easily. If not, I have a few kids that will help me in town...Thanks for the suggestions! MG's are My favorites next to Roses.Roses sound a bit ambitious at this point../:O) Maybe someday......
Nice to meet you! (:O)

Good luck with your MG ventures! I love checking over my plants every day looking for ripe seed pods that are ready to pick. It keeps my mind off the limitations, and I just try to focus on what I CAN do.
