Hello All~
I believe I am next in line to be the BingoMistress for the month of April :) I can't remember if anyone has already volunteered to be my holder....so shout out if you did.
Here are my ideas, cavets, rules and assorted paranoia:
I haven't seen any bugs on my plants even using a loupe but as we all know this doesn't guarantee the plant is 100% bug free. I am not the world's best isolater and I bring cut flowers in from my garden all summer. SO what I am saying is please understand the risk you may be taking by not isolating your winning plants. Also, you may want leaves instead of the starter plants which I will happily substitute (leaves being easier to clear of potential problems). If neither of these options feel safe enough for you, then you may want to sit this bingo out until there is a gift certificate bingo *warm smile, not snotty grimace*
On to the game. I propose an old fashioned (meaning last year) type of Bingo. I will list all the varieties I have to give, noting any info I have on them. (I have a lot of starter plants just ripe for shipping) You (meaning bingo player) pick your favorite 15 for your bingo card. If you win bingo, you win a box with all 15 of the plants and/or leaves you wanted. Cool, huh?
Winner pays all shipping and fees (I'm nice but kinda poor)!
What do you think out there? Wanna play?

I'm going to work on making a list. I'll have it posted in the next few days. In the meantime, I still need someone to hold (vbg). Bingo calling will commence the first week in April.
Smooch!

I want to play!!!
Oh, I want to play April Bingo!
Wow, things happen quick on this board~ LOL! I think we have a card holder (thank you threegardners!) and another prize which has been donated by starfly! Cool, huh?
As I do the plant inventory, I think I will probably have enough to fill two boxes. So already we have first, second and third prize. Love it!
Ohh, is that Emperor in the pic Jackie?

I've noted the availability of plants and/or leaves for those who may want to limit their prize box to only leaves. Almost all of the plants are starter size, not blooming. But they have a great start. :)
Threegardners has thoughtfully offered to hold the cards. You can email her here:
http://davesgarden.com/mail/pmail.php?user=threegardeners
So far our prizes are as follows:
First place - Box of named plants and/or leaves listed on winner's bingo card.
Second place - Box of named plants and/or leaves listed on the second place winner's bingo card...though there may need to be a couple of substitutions depending on first place card. (geeze can I make it more confusing??)
Third place - A $19.99 gift card from Bluebird Violets from starfly/Eunice who says she will even pay the shipping on the winner's order!
Fourth place - "AV Care Package" consisting of a grooming kit, fertilizer, starter pots, and a few other goodies from cedarnest/Nancy...cool!
So now you have plenty of time to research the list and compile your bingo cards~LOL You have until the last day in March. Any questions???? Dmail me :)

Send away!!! I'm getting just as excited as I would if I was playing....lol...I've got 2 cards already.
Count me in as well : ))
Can I play? If I win the leaves I can donate them to someone in the US.
I'm in!
You sure can, ccino42 :) Maybe you'll win the other prizes instead...or can talk someone into a trade...
I'm really happy to see so much excitement for the new game. I know my baby plants are going to love it, too!!
Jacki
Please include me! When will you start? Or did I miss that above?
we have 5 confirmed entries so far!!
Calling will start on April Fool's Day (no joke!). I live in Washington State which is the pacific time zone. I'll probably call in the morning but could call throughout the day. I suspect I'll make a couple/three calls at a time until we get toward the end...then slow down. Hmmm...anything else? Can't think of more right now (still drinking coffee)
There's plenty of time to get your cards together and threegardeners is collecting them already.
Jacki
I'm in!!!!

Sent in my card!
WOW.....I've received 12 cards so far!!!! This is gonna be an awesome Bingo.
I'm really excited about it. I never thought I would say this but I actually need to give a bunch of plants to new homes...I'm running out of room. And what a fun way to do it!
Is the Optimara Asteroid actually Ultra Violet asteroid? I believe we had a discussion ages ago concerning this.

I'd like to play. I've never played before. I understand making up the card and will do that but can someone please explain what else is entailed?
Thanks,
Lana
Hey, Wvdaisy! I grew up in WV. Very cool!
Send your card to threegardeners.(She will verify when someone bingos) When the game starts, our host, PlantiMcPlanter will post calls each day. All you have to do is hope they are the calls on your list. If you bingo you will win the varieties on your card(for 1st or 2nd place). The 3rd place winner will get a $19.99 gift certificate from Bluebird Greenhouse.
If I left anthing out please chime in! Don't worry we will all be glad to help you along the way.
Melissa
Hello,
I'm in! Thank you :)
wowsers.....16 cards in already!!! All these d-mails, I feel like the popular kid in school!!! lol
Good explaination, Melissa. I would only add a couple of things...beginning Sunday, April 1st, there will be a new thread in the av forum called April Bingo. That is where I will list the calls for the day. They will be on the thread and also posted at the top of the thread for clarity. If I call a plant that is on your bingo card (which is really just a list) then you mark it off. First one who marks off all the plants on their list posts "Bingo!" Then we ask threegardeners to confirm the cards and start passing out prizes. Remember that:
Winner pays shipping.
No out of country plant shipping...so sorry to our canadian friends! BUT you can still play for fun and hopes to get the gift card or the AV supplies box generously donated by our great av group.
That is all I can think of right now. Please post any questions or concerns or drop me a dmail :)
Only a couple days to go so get those cards in~LOL!
OK! Thanks for the explanation. Will get my card done and dmailed. I'm on backwoods dial-up so will take me awhile to look up the plants and decide which ones I want. Because I'm going to win you know ;~)
Lana
Thats a good attitude to have Lana. The game should be loads of fun : ) Good Luck : ))
Oh this is gonna be another Fun, Fun, Bingo! Good Luck to Everyone! ( Me included!) :))
Where is the best place to look up AV's? I know daylilies have Tinkers database, does AV's have one, too?
