I'm new to Dave's Garden and have been looking at everything there is to see. I noticed that other DG groups have Round Up's. Has this group ever had one? Maybe we could get one going for next year. They sound like fun !!
We just bought a house in Otsego with a double lot, with hardly any flowers planted, but plenty of space to put some. I have a greenhouse, but it hasn't been moved here yet. Too late to use it this year anyway. I've been checking out where the sunny spots and shady places are.
I think I'm going to really like this group...
DG Michigan Round Up???
Hi Mmock! Welcome to DG! I'm fairly new myself and I have been hoping for a round up :)
Michelle
Welcome mmock and Michelle......................We had a Michigan Roundup last June at Notmartha's house in June. We had a nice turnout, was just a day event, but lots of plants to go around. Not sure if there is gonna be one planned for this year. Bay City seems to be a central location for almost everyone.....
Deann
Welcome Mmock. I'm glad you found the Michigan forum. I missed the get together last year. Not sure if there will be another this year or not. We just moved to Au Gres a couple years ago ourselves. Hubby is still commuting from his job downstate. We were from Garden City originally. If you are ever over Au Gres way holler and we can get together.
Brenda
Welcome mm - I'm just up the pike from you - Caledonia area...small world!! I've never been to a round up either - life keeps getting in the way!
I worked so hard outside yesterday that today I need to soak in a hot tub all day today...ohhh I am so sore. I also look like I got in a fight with a cat- my arms are full of scratches. I need to get back outside before the cold weather comes back...
mmock....WELCOME to DG.
As the adage goes, "You don't have to be crazy to be here...but it sure helps." :->
Glad to have you with us.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Actually, notMartha is the one who invited me to join the Michigan group. I've learned a lot from this website, it has a lot to offer. I'm spending way too much time on here to be honest !!

mmock, Welcome!
I rarely post here, more likely to post in Spring/summer time.
Just wanted to tell you the I am fairly close to you. I live in Bloomingdale, work in Allegan. I have a grandson living outside of Otsego. My mom was raised in Otsego, also.
Diane
Hi notmartha,
I just read your post. When you head up to see the daylily place in Beaverton, you might want to plan to go a little bit further, up to Gladwin, to Stone Cottage Garden. They have an amazing variety of daylilies, "plus a whole lot more". The owners, Mary and Dave Moore, are on hand to answer questions and everyone there seems to be very helpful. They also have interesting speakers during the season. It's a little out of the way, but it's a magical place!
~Mary (Wagner, not Moore) :-)
Oops, I suppose I should have posted that to everyone...didn't mean to single out anyone in particular.
(Please have patience with me, I'm new to this posting thing)
Im new here thanks for the welcome i was invited by deann
Im on the computer more than ever. Im really enjoying the site I live in plainwell not to far from mmock. Its nice to be so close to another plant lover.

Cindy
Hi neighbor..gardenlady123...I bet we have probably been side by side at the local store in the seed aisle or in the perennials. Meijer sure has some great plants right now. Have you been there yet?
Gardenlady......welcome to dave's and to the Michigan Forum....alot of talented and well educated people in this forum. I am sure your gonna enjoy your time here.
Deann

Brenda
Welcome gardenlady..I hope you enjoy it here!!)
mmrock I have been to meijer garden center. How about the green house in Martin. Off of 10th st. its a very nice one. Very helpful staff. If you ever have time its worth the time I got a beautiful oakleaf hydrangea for only 20.00 last year! Ive wanted one for a long time. Wedels wanted 80.00. So it was a great savings. Well maybe some day we can get together and chat. Ronna
gardenlady124...no I haven't been to Martin...but I will :) Are they open now?
Im almost sure they are, I know we usually go around mothers day for ideas and gifts.
Hey mmrock I wanted to tell you the greenhouse is approxy. 8 miles after the light in Martin. Its not right "downtown" that is if theres a downtown in Martin.
mmock sorry i spelt your name wrong
Not a problem about the spelling, and thanks for the info on Martin.
A relatively new Otsego-an here! And a brand new DG subscriber as of today. Glad to meet some others from all over Michigan and right here at home. : ) Looking forward to sharing and learning. That Martin Greenhouse sounds interesting... haven't been there yet. Is it on 122 or 10th st.? (We moved to the area a little more than 4 years ago...) I usually go up to Horrock's in Grand Rapids, Garden Crossings out in Zeeland, or Jonker's in Holland.
The address of the greenhouse is 998 122nd ave. about 5 miles from the martin light. I just went there today. and yes they are open i found some new shade clovery plants very pretty with a pink flower on them and another heibrus??? Its a very pretty peachy color. It seems like they had a little bit more annuals. they always have buy 3 -2 gallon pots and get one free. They run about 6.99 and alittle bit more. Happy gardening. Ronna

Wow! That looks great! I just e-mailed the link to my SIL. She likes gardening and she visits my niece and her family in GR frequently.
We live in Saginaw, out towards the St. Charles area, but I was born and raised in Bay City.
I see that several of you are from the Beaverton/Sanford/Gladwin area. My parents and grand paretns both live in Beaverton. My grand parents have lived on Wixom Lake for years and years. We had a cabin on Wixom for years when growing up also. When my mom retired a few years ago, my parents sold their cabin on Wixom and bought an empty lot on the other side of the lake and then built a new house. They then sold their house in Bay City and then moved up to the house on Wixom. My mom also loves gardening, and I'm sure that's where I got the bug from.
I can't wait to learn all I can from all the experts here. If you do decide to have a MI Round Up, I'd love to meet all of you, and hopefully learn a thing or two.
