Can't reach fresh blooms so I had to pick some up off the ground. They're much whiter as fresh blooms and change to a yellow/white as they age.

Around here they'll shotgun down a sample when not reachable. Some great trees get propagated that way, including a yellow-foliaged American beech.
Give us a pic of the whole tree, bigred (and maybe its GPS coordinates, when you are next on vacation, etc.).
Vacation? What the heck is that?...LOL I'm in Ark.(very bottom left corner of Ark. map in atlas)just about 20 miles from the Ark.-Texas statelines.
