Living in Broward County, Florida I have always had an attachment to this plant. It appears to be a good ground cover and is somewhat attractive. Recently my dog, I discovered, has developed a horrible allergy to this plant. Her underside breaks out in a rash which is hard to control. After a week long regimen of benadryl and steroids the rash subsides, but the steroids cause other complications (peeing and an uncontrollable appetite). And then if we are unlucky enough, she manages to get into the plants again.
I do not recommend this plant in any yard that has house pets that like to travel along the fence where the plant likes to grow. The plant has juices that can cause burning and itching to human skin as well.
