Has anyone used this on MG seeds? I have a bottle but am so used to soaking the seeds that I have not tried it.

lol.. Donna,
it is a powder made by Messenger (called Messenger seed treatment) and has a small amount of Harpin Protein anyway, it is supposed to increase root mass and uniformity in germination. I'm copying this off the bottle's phamplet:

Stimulates a plants defense and growth mechanisms
Boots overall growth, vigor, and production
Aids in the management of disease
Improves the plant's ability to grow and protect itself from stresses caused by adverse environmental conditions

Anyway, I've had a bottle since last year. I do know that the messenger and mighty plant do wonders on my plants, but have not tried the seed puffer, maybe I'll try it with seeds that I have plenty of, just did not want to try it with the ones I only have one or two seeds without knowing.

Sounds like good stuff. I probably would have tried it last year but we had to move.

I have the seed puffer too. I am going to use it on the MG's I direct sow.

Sure will let you guys know what happens. today put three seeds of each Shibori and 3 purple ?? with seed puffer and also used the wet coffee filter method in small baggies..

I have a feeling we won't know the results till the end of the season and see if these plants do well. I really should try them with some of the ones like Chocolate Silk and Rose Silk, those seem to be kind of delicate.. if I have anymore seeds for Rose Silk I will do that.. not one of the Chocolates have done too well, so this would be a good experiment for me ... the mad hatter here.

It would be very interesting to try puffing a few and grow them alongside some that were not puffed (as a control group) and see if there is a difference.

Beth, yes, that is so interesting to me.. let me know if you do this, I'll try to get the same seeds going tonight for these two that I just used..
