This is a CLOSED & FULL swap, please watch for the next fun swap, coming soon!
Easter will be here before we know it and I thought that since we would all be busy outside working in our gardens, planting new seeds and bulbs, now would be the best time to start an Easter seed swap. Let's start the swap with 20 participants.
Easter Seed Swap Rules:
1. Send 20 seed packets "all decorated up" for the Easter holiday. Please label the seeds with your DG username & seed type.
2. Send 1-small Easter gift. (i.e. stickers, pencils, garden gloves, bookmarks, magnets, pins)
3. Send a self-addressed label for bubble envelope
4. Send stamps or enough money to cover postage for your bubble envelope to be returned full of fun seed packets and a small gift.
5. Remember to send your goodies in a LARGE (8.5x11) bubble envelope. It is sometimes hard to fit everything inside one any smaller. :-)
6. If you are not in the address exchange, please d-mail your address to me when you sign up.
7. Please send your BE to me no later than: March 31, 2007. Thanks! :)
Ok, HOP on in! :)

Easter Seed Swap...The Rest of the Story!
Welcome to the new "part 2" of our Easter seed swap! The countdown to the deadline is on...........only 9 more days to go. I wanted to check with, 9kittymom, rainy_Jane, scrap_n_tell, frausnow, jasmyne, and Heavinscent to make sure that you ladies didn't need anything and that you all are doing ok. Please let me know, I look forward to hearing from you.
Happy "hump" day to all of you - - -
Belinda
Oh boy, 9 more days :o)
It is hard to beleive that Easter is only 17 days away... Time is flying.
Belinda, glad you started a new thread, even with cable hook up, it was getting slow to load. lol
Hope you all have a great day,
Connie
Thanks Connie. It is very hard to believe that Easter is so near. Where has the year gone? You know the 'ole saying of "time flies when you're having fun"? Well, foohy - - it flies no matter what! lol
Oh it sure do! lol
I updated my WSing database, I have some sprouts :o) Just hope this weather doesn't kill them...
http://conniesgarden.com/WSing.html if you want to take a look see :o)
OM goodness Connie! What a fabulous database of information!!!!!!! WOW, girl I am impressed!!!!! That makes my seed journal look like nothing! :( I only have mine hand written, no where on a database like that. Is your weather causing you grief???? I'll do my best to send you some of my weather. It is 78*F here today. A bit windy, but otherwise, gorgeous. Oh, I can add to your info on the Omega Canna, it has petite apricot bloom clusters, and grows to be 4'-6'. I have an entire garden of them, I think they are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing with me!
Belinda
Thanks Belinda that saves me a little time having to look that info up :o)
I like to know the sizes and colors so I know where and what they will go with...
I takes a lot of time looking all that info up.
Well I got some shocking news and have cried on and off all afternoon. My grandaughter age 16 is making me a great gramma... I am still in shock I think... It just breaks my heart, But there is nothing I can say or do about it. It's already done! I just wish she would have used better since.... Well I am getting off line, my friend should be here any time. Gonna watch a little TV and talk.
Will be around tomorrow.
Have a good night,
Connie
EEK!! Boy did this sneek up on me! My decorations are done just need to add the seeds. I will have them out by the deadline for sure Thanks for the reminder!
Caren
belinda,
speaking of getting easter type little fuzzy cutties. guess what my dh got me today for my birthday which is on the 26th. i'm so happy!!! not the getting old part though, rotfl. he knows my fav things are animals and gardening well he has bought me lots of gardening pretties lately but today he got me 2-6 wk old bunnies. they are gorgous!!
both are does since we have a mini lop that is a girl named bubbles who is white w/gray spots, well one is a blueish gray looking chinchila i believe we named her pepie. the other is a lop but not sure kind as she has a unique color i've never seen, she is a beautiful brandy/buff color we named her lily, lol. anyways i had to share in my joy!
i can't get my all in one scanner to read my card to share pics of my new cutties with ya all but i will as soon as i can. i thought you'd think that was neet you got new chickies to love and i got new bunnies to love. what a great surprise for both of us this close to easter!!!
hugs,
silkie
Connie, YIKES! Oh my. Well, regardless of timing, you will love the baby to pieces. I will say lots of prayers for your family. That is tough being a mother at such a young age. My mother was 16 when she had me and it was very hard for her, hard to the point of giving up. I was raised by my grandparents and very blessed, I must add. Just keep talking to her about everything.............I mean everything. Keep your door and your heart wide open, she needs you now more than ever. :-) Hang in there, Connie.
Caren, times does fly - - huh? You are welcome for the reminder! :-0)
silkie - how fun! I certainly want to see pics when you get them going, K? You KNOW how much of an animal lover I am and Happy early Birthday to you!!!!!!! I won't even mention how many candles are on my cake now. You know, you get to a point in life that a true lady NEVER tells her age..............LOL. I don't believe that for one minute, just a funny saying you hear! lol I love the names you gave them - - - can't wait for pics!
I won't be around the house much today ladies, I have a darn 'ole doctor's appt. out of town. UGH. If anyone needs anything, leave an email at bkstarnes@earthlink.net and those come directly to my phone while I'm away. :-) What did we ever do before cell phones and blackberry's? lol Hope all of you have a terrific day!
Belinda
GOOD MORNING Daves Garden,
Hi ya all.
Wow Connie what a data base love it. I did the same thing but I was stupid my harddrive got full and I accidentely dumped it. Now I gotta start all over. I even added a web site to help me with all sorts of thing like what they looked like and some extra special care. Man are you a women after my own heart. I love Columbine, But gosh not that many I thought I had alot but girl you beat me. I am jealous I want some.....lol OMG and the Malva girl I am double jealous now. Oh Oh wait a minute I gotcha beat on the Zinna's and girl what happen I dont see any Morning glories.
Belinda Hey ya girlfriend. Yippie you may have the better weather but girlfriend I have cable internet 10.0 mb fast fast fast....love it. As for the back weeeelllll I dont know. Doc doesnt seem to know what it is now. I have an MRI on the 29th. It has actually done much better cuz I found out that when it starts to hurt SIT DOWN. However today with trying to replant the seedlings and that Poly stuff I pushed it alittle. But I am sitting now waiting on the Crystals to swell. Giving them about an hour. Let me know if you get a clean bill of health today.
I gotta replant all my Hibiscus seeds I didnt do so well on them not sure what I did wrong but I gonna try it again cuz I got time I hope. Also some bad luck with my MG I think I had the soiless to wet. But those Canna's OMG did they do well. And Mom's large variety of daisies did well also. But what did the best was the Snapdragons & Herbs WOW am I gonna have alot of them. I betcha there are thousands of Snaps. Those seeds just to small to try an plant individual. ROFLMAO at how many there are......
Well girls I dont know if any of ya got those Poly Crystals.....but if you did my my do as the suggest and wet them 1st before using them. Glad I listened to that my sink is overflowing.....lol Good thing I got lots to do with them but I will be days using all of it and I only wet about 2 or 3 cups of it.....ROFLMAO I think I'll make some of those neck coolers with them. The sale for about $5 each here and it is almost time to use them. Maybe I'll make them and sale them to the new nursery that is openning back up 2 doors away from me.
OK I have been playing on the computer for over an hour now and I must get back to the replanting of the seedlings. Days on those silly SNAPs.....lol
See ya all soon
Beck
ROFL Beck, I am starting my MG's today and all my other vine seeds, just looking some info up on how to start the hyacinth bean vine and a few others. I have several different MG's, man I have a lot of seeds to get started... Went to HD yesterday looking for a GH, and woouldn't you know it, still gonna be a couple weeks before they get them out and the models set up :( I told them they should have already had them babies up a month ago and selling lol... or leave them up all year.
Beck if all my columbine make it and the malva, I will send you some seeds this fall, just remind me.
Ok got some more research to do then got to get all these sown.
You all have a great day, Oh and Belinda, hope all goes well at the doc's.
Connie
Good FRIDAY morning Easter swappers! :-) And, and a HUGE thank you to my GF, Beck - - - who emailed me yesterday with a good luck wish as I'm on the way to the doc. Too sweet, she made my day. :-) Thanks! First thing first, Doc says that I am 70% (new bone growth), so I should be as good as new before long - - - Hooray! for that! Thanks too to Connie for thinking of me, you guys are fabulous! :-)
I am off and running today. DD is coming out to finish packing up all of her room. I am officially an empty-nester and doing the empty nester dance as a result! lol (jk!) I'll check back in late tonight with you guys and Beck, good luck with your seeds. Connie, I've been saying lots of prayers for you and your family - - - keep us posted, k?
TGIF - - -
Belinda :-)
Hi ya Hi ya what a wonderful day it has been. DH and I went to the Small Business Development Center to a counsiler. We have been looking at this little restraunt in a tiny little town to open, for about 2 months now. Well let me tell ya he made it sound promising for us. And he gave us things to do to help get the financing and lots of other things. Sounds like he may help us alot. :( if it goes thou I wont be around much to spend time with my DH friends, But I will never 4get nor will I leave 4ever. Also will have to hire out alot of the yard work and siding of house but DH says aint noone touching the development of our pond it is gonna be all us. :). Wont have much time for my gardening and probably not alot of seed trading. But It will be good for us to have our own business. And yippie no more lifting up the toads (300 - 500 lbs) of Decatur that just think they are sick, wouldnt mind if they really were.
Although this will take awhile to do so I will be around quite abit until then. Well gotta go the timer just clicked on the cherry cobbler.....yum yum......gotta go have me some ala mode.
See ya's soon
Beck
Beck that sounds so wonderful, living out one of my dreams. Good luck to ya, wish ya lived closer I would come work for you.
Robin
Hi ya Beck !
Congrats, congrats, congrats! What is your timeline for your new, exciting venture? I am so thrilled for you two. What a blessing. We WILL miss ya, terribly. However, I will be in contact with you one way or the other - - - :-) You have brought me lots of sunshine during a time in my life where there wasn't much else to smile about. Thanks a zillion for all those sweet things you did for me, sent me, made me..........you have been a sweetheart. I want to hear all the details - - - fill me in when you have time.
Belinda :-)
The deadline for your seeds is nearing............only FIVE more days to get them sent in. Is there anyone on the "missing" list, besides Heavinscent that needs help, or needs an extention, or anything else? Please do let me know this week, as I am shuffling BE's around at this moment ensuring everyone gets one of everything.
Thanks,
Belinda
Time sure does fly when you are gardening. My seeds are on their way.
Jasmyne
Jasmyne, thanks so much for letting me know that your seeds are on the way. Yes, time does indeed fly by this time of the year. We are all so busy getting our gardens ready for the debut! :-)
I am working on them TODAY!! Why I always wait til the last minute is beyond me. LOl
Susan
=^..^=
No problem Susan. You still have a few days.............thank you for letting me know. :) I think the only people I haven't heard anything at all from are:
rainy_Jane
scrap_n_tell
frausnow
How are you ladies making it? I hope to have all the BE's by this weekend, so that I can finish sorting and stuffing and have them all back in the mail by Tuesday. (that is my goal at least) It is a gorgeous sun shiny day here today after SO many days of cloudy, dreary, rainy weather. I look forward to spending my afternoon outside in the garden and in my coops. Wishing all of you a terrific Tuesday and I'll check back in later today!
Belinda
Mine went out in todays mail. I hope you get it soon!
Caren
GM Caren, and thank you! I will let you know as soon as it arrives. Has anyone heard anything from rainy_Jane,
scrap_n_tell, or frausnow? Only two days away from our deadline and I haven't heard a word from them in quite a long time - - - will try dmailing them.
Snapped a pick of my first clematis bloom yesterday to share with you all - - - things are looking so pretty and green around here. I wish Spring would stay a while longer! Have a good day!
Belinda
Hi Belinda, oh that is pretty, which clematis is it? it is still way to cold here for clematises. but I do have some coming in May :o) the last 2 days was beautiful out and today it is COLD. but not winter cold thank goodness.
Well I just popped on for a minute, getting ready to sow some more seed. its a never ending thing lol...
Have a good day,
Connie
Sorry, Belinda, just got back from a 5 day mission trip to Pass Christian, Mississippi. Eleven of us from our church went to help in the rebuilding efforts there. We got to spend one evening in New Orleans. There's soooo much work that still needs to be done, but at least we were able to help out 3 families while we were there. What an experience! Everyone should have the opportunity to go at least once.
Anyway, I hope to get my packets done by this weekend and mailed out. I won't be participating in any swaps for a while after this as we have just put our house up for sale so we'll be busy for the next few months. I'll be lurking in the background though.
JoAnn
Well ladies TOMORROW is the deadline to have your BE's to me. I have heard from everyone except:
rainy_Jane & scrap_n_tell
I should have all the others by mid-next week to start sorting through.
JoAnn, sounds like you had a great experience and congrats on the listing of your home. You will be one busy lady for quite a while. I will let you know as soon as your BE arrives and thanks for letting me know your status.
Connie, I wish I knew the clematis type. It was a gift from a friends garden, and I gladly accepted without asking any questions........lol. I have several things blooming now and it is a treat to walk out and find new, exciting blooms each day.
I will be gone this weekend, but will check back in on Monday morning - - - hope all of you have a terrific weekend!
Belinda :)
Belinda, I'm no expert, but that clematis looks like 'Nelly Moser'. And - congratulations on your progress in recovery on your back - wonderful way to start out this spring - gently. For those that don't send in their seeds, would you like to break open the wrappings of their seed packets and just distribute the seeds among everyone else? There should be at least 10 packets for each member of this swap. One reason I sent so many packets was that some have very few seeds, so sending a variety was my way to compensate for that.
Good Monday morning ladies ~
I am still waiting on Heavinscent & frausnow. And I've not heard anything at all from rainy_Jane, so I am going to assume that she chose not to participate this time?? Allison_FL also has dropped out at the last minute, so once I've received Heavinscent & frausnow, we should be good to go. Hopefully theirs will be here no later than tomorrow so I can get everyone's BE's back in the mail to you by Wednesday. Some of you may get yours a day or so after Easter, and I hope you will understand why they are late. When the mail takes several days to get from me to you and I'm still waiting on a couple of BE's.........my timeline is too short to make it to you by Sunday. I am so sorry for that, as I have tried really hard to get your return BE's back to you prior to Easter. :( I have REALLY enjyed hosting this swap and getting to know so many of you on a more personal level. I've always found DG'ers to be great people.
bluespiral - I will be glad to distribute evenly the remaining seeds for you. That was SO kind of you to do. We all love extras, and you went to so much trouble........those who missed out will be sorry. :( The rest of us, however are super thankful for your generousity. Thanks for the name of the clematis. I love it. It is my favorite and blooms all season long.
I snapped this one yesterday of one of my tulips. They are all showing their pretty faces right now ~ it is so great to walk out the back door and find a new bloom each time. :-)
Belinda
Belinda, I really appreciate all the work you put into doing this swap. This is my first large swap and it has been great fun. Don't worry about the ship date of the envelope. I am really going to enjoy it no matter when it gets here. Thanks again to you and everyone here for making DG special. Happy Easter!! Cyndie
Thanks Cyndie, you are a sweetheart. :-) I have finished putting everything into everyones BE's and they are completely ready to ship as soon as I receive the last two. I snapped a pic of what fun I've been having this afternoon finishing up........had to share with all of you. It never ceases to amaze me at the artwork and time that a lot of you put into your seed packets. Amazing! :-)
Belinda
Belinda, such a cute assortment, don't worry if they get back to ppl b4 Easter, its the thought that counts :o) and a nice gift to be waiting on *rubbing hands together* lol
Well I am back to bed, got tired of messing around with this cold and went to the docs today and found out I have pnemonia in both lungs and she gave me a boat load of meds. So I may not be around for a few days, the meds she gave me, knock me out cold... So if I don't get a chance to post b4 Sunday.
YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT EASTER :o)
Hugs everybody,
Connie
Well Connie, good grief girl. You need to take really good care of yourself, rest, relax and get well. I hope that you feel better soon and thanks for the kind words. :)
I received Heavinscent's BE today, all are sorted and ready to go out as soon as frausnow's arrive. :-) Can't wait for you all to get yours..........you will love all your goodies!
Belinda
Connie, get well soon and stay in bed girl, you can't plant anything if you are too ill to get out.
Belinda, We are all anxious to get our be's but reality is we will wait till whenever and it won't bother us a bit. We'll be doing handsprings when they come in (well maybe not all of us, I won't unless I want to be bed ridden for a month) Besides we're all just a bunch of funny ol' gardeners having loads of fun with a terrific hostess.
LOL Robynznest! I too would be bedridden for months if I attempted a handspring of any type! lolololol Thanks for the sweet words............it has been great getting to know each of you on a more personal level. We all have common goals with gardening........let it live, let it live, let it bloom (hopefully)! And then you can definitely put the "oomph" on (ol') for several of us! :-)
Have a great evening,
Belinda
My apologies for holding up the works! I got the packets done and in the envie ready to mail on Wednesday. I will ship via FedEx so it'll get there faster.
JoAnn
Hi Belinda,
Sorry I haven't had a chance to be on Daves much lately. My new job is wonderful but also very tiring.
I will sit out on this one but hope to catch one a little later in the year.
Happy Easter to everyone just the same!
Jane
I was able to get my husband to take the package to work with him this morning instead of waiting til I have the car tomorrow. I had him mail it Priority Mail so it's on its' way.
JoAnn
Thanks JoAnn! So glad to hear that your seeds are on the way. All I need to do is put your seeds in everyones BE's, seal & mail. Woooo Hooooo! Won't be long now ladies! :-)
Jane, so good to hear your new job is going so well. We've all missed you around DG's world - - - hope your life slows down enough to join us again later in the year. Congrats on your job!
Also, I have spread all of the extra seeds around to each of you so when you open your BE and you have more than one seed packet from the same person...............don't think anything about it. :) I figured, the more the merrier for all of you! Hope all of you have a terrific day!
Belinda
Thanks Belinda, and good luck with the new job Jane. After you're settled in, come back and join us in more swaps later.
Robin
I won't be around tomorrow so I wanted to wish you all a very
HAPPY EASTER Our Church is having a sunrise service in the morning, and I am hoping I get to go. Just depends on how I am feeling in the am and what kind of night I have tonight.
Have a good day,
Connie
Happy Easter, Connie. Take care of yourself. Cyndie
