CLOSED: This Bug ate my Sum and Substance Hosta!

I have never seen this fella before but he cut the leaves of my hosta off at ground level and I think he killed it! Also left some orange looking residue or eggs. Sorry for the very poor quality of the picture.

It looks like a nymph stage Stinkbug of some kind. Hostas are pretty tough, maybe it'll be okay?

I think you could be right. I have never seen anything eat a hosta like that before- and I've had hostas for quite a long time.
I hope it comes back this year. They are pretty tough plants.
