I'm probably looking for the impossible. A barberry from my childhood home. The shrub, in my memory, lined the top of a stone stairway. They were about 3' high and not much wider, with small dark green leaves in Spring and tiny red berries in Fall. They thrived in the Hudson Valley, NY, not sure of the zone there.
If no one can help me with that specifically, how about a good nursery source for barberries? I only see the golden leaf variety in chain nurseries around here.
Thanks, Rosemary
Berberis
Rosemary... Have you checked your local Lowe's? I know it not necessarily the best place to go, but they carry several Barberries to include B. the 'Pigmy.'
The Berberis your lookign for is all over the place here. They are beautiful, but so wicked with those thorns.
Hopefully somebody els e with have some specific nurserie s for ya.
Thanks, I'll go to Lowe's soon. I got a golden one last year but want the other one, of course.
