hardy fern library is a GREAT reference site.
Well, it looks like we got 8" or snow last night :~( I wish I were looking at ferns unfurling, but no...I'm looking at a lot of white stuff.
Favorite Fern Picture
Darren: That's a very useful link! Thanks.
Shadyfolks: So sorry. Spring will come. :)
Deb
robcorreia,
hard to tell, can you get a better picture of a frond. It's a beautiful stand of fern you have!
Thanks Shadyfolks! I'll try to get a better angle...I have lots of different ferns but don't know which ones they are....
Beautiful stand of ferns rob. Perhaps they are lady fern? Just a guess looking at them so far away.

I think you got it Doss!
Very nice picture indeed!
That's such a deep rich photo balvenie.
Rob, I grow ladyfern with my farfugium too. :-) Not a grand stand like yours though.
Don't they look beautiful together? They looked dead when I moved in and now...ta-da!
oH! I GOTTA have this one! Gardengus, what fern is this?? I love it!
Beautiful Gus. What kind of fern is it?
Lady ferns are decidious Rob. That's how come the disappearing act. Sometimes if the winter is really mild the fronds just look ratty instead of disappearing totally.
Really? How naive of me! I had no idea ferns were decidious!
Guess you learn something every day. :-)
Me? No, I have been learning SEVERAL things everyday! It feels so good and it's so funny everytime I realize how clueless I was just a few months ago. Can you believe not even 6 months ago in my old place I killed a lavender with watering...I saw it looking worse and worse and thought it was thirsty! LOL!!!
I can believe it. We all make mistakes in gardening. I've overwatered (read killed) some hellebores in my lifetime and I still haven't figured out how grow seeds. Somehow I don't have the 'knack'. This winter I failed to check out a couple of pots and some hostas drowned. Learning in gardening never ends.
I also have a penchant for overplanting but I can't seem to get out of the habit.
Overplanting is goood.....raises the survival chances lol
Now I had never thought of it that way. LOL
What a nice companion to spend the days with Gus. It seems quite large for an indoor fern. You must take VERY good care of it.
Does maidenhair fern spiral like that? That's pretty cool! I need to get one!
There are different types of Maidenhair Rob.

More than you wanted to know I'm sure. I'm partial to the Southern Maidenhair which would very happily grow in your garden.
I think this fern was photographed in the redwood forest of Washington state,so if you know what one it is, it might grow in your climate.
Pretty awesome! I love the ones that grow on walls....I have no idea how they get there.
OK who named it SPLEENWORT
such an ugly name for a plant.
Yes agreed, what a name! lol
My mother in law has a stone wall with a bunch of those maidenhair ferns groing all over...it's gorgeous, wish I had a picture!
So Rob - go visit your MIL camera in hand. I'd love to see it!
She lives in Brazil Doss! But I'm sure we've got some pics somewhere...
Somehow I thought that she might live far but hadn't considered Brazil! Living in the rain forest can do wonders for your ferns.
No kidding. Ferns and everything else! When I go back home I bang my head against the wall in humiliation! Plants that we treat like precious little babies here just grow like weeds there!
Ooh, like that d.pedata, Doss! I agree, very cool.
Oh, I am loving looking at these pictures. They are ALL great shots!
