Spring at Bellingrath

Atmore, AL(Zone 8b)

I drove down to Bellingrath Gardens today and took some pictures of the azaleas. I thought I'd share a few with you guys.

Unfortunately most of the camellias were past their peak.

It must have been 20ft tall and smelled wonderful.

Strangely this Yoshino Cherry only had a few blooms. I thought it would be fully loaded by now.

Looks half-dead to me! Lots of dead wood, not many fine shoots. Don't think it'll be there much longer.

LOL That might be true. They're not that common around here, maybe a good reason.

Resin,
Is that what the UK looks like "across the pond"? (in the picture above) (:o)

What is that in front of the Taxodium? Are those cypress knees forming?

It does a bit, actually, even the house looks fairly 'English-style' :-)

Thanks escambia, it'll be about 8 weeks before I see anything like what's in your photos. It was fun to see. I just had a first little petal on my witchhazel.

This is an old live oak, but it had some kind of citrus tree growing to the right side of it. I never did figure out what it was, but it was loaded with fruit.

Cliftonia monophylla (Buckwheat tree) in full bloom. Some people consider these weedy in wetter areas.
