Wow, all that looks great!
I just love your walkway. That gives me some idea, thanks.
It is a very pretty shaped greenhouse. It looks so nice with all your other plants surrounding the greenhouse.
I bet you will really enjoy it.

Taking the plunge II
Very nice, Nautical!
It gets hot in there very quickly, doesn't it?
SB makes a point about ventilation. Your louvers are a bit low. The hottest air in the greenhouse will be at the top, where ideally you would want to exhaust it. Are they are just inlets and do you have a fan on the other end?
Of course many people empty out their greenhouses in the Summer. But this exposes the plant material to both Mother Nature and her critters. Those diciduous trees will take away a little sun year round, but you will be glad they are there in the Summer.
The Azaleas won't do any shading but they look terrific as a part of a very nicely done garden/greenhouse area.
Thanks to all for all the nice words. I really am loving it, just wish I was farther along and had things growing.
Daisy, the walk is just pavers that I picked up at lowes, I dug the topsoil out and set them in a pea gravel/sand type base.
SB, yes very HOT, and quickly once the sun is on it. BC forgot to cut the panels for the vents and the exhaust fan. Rather than wait for new panels, I cut them myself. (there was no way I was taking it back apart to put new ones in.)
They said they charge $15.00/cut, so I am suppose to be getting a credit back.
You can't see it, but there is a 16" 2,000 cfm exhaust fan located near the peak at the far end of the GH. The louvers are motorized, and open at the same time the fan comes on. There was not an easy way to locate the intake vents in the opposite wall to the exhaust fan, so I put them as close to the front as I could.
The trees are filling out now, and there are more to the south that you can't see. I was hoping to be able to use the trees as natural shade and be able to keep it cool enought to use year round. That part seems to be working, althought we have not had any really hot weather yet, but it has been close to 90 several days. The sun does not hit it hard until around 11:45 am. But now I am concerned that the shade will not allow enough light....I don't have a light meter yet, can anyone tell me what kind of numbers I need to be able to grow well, or how I should measure it? It is light in there, just not "bright" light. I have watched the area closely for the last couple of years, and when the leaves are all off the trees, I will get good sun, but I am getting more shade than I thought. The right side of the house as you are looking at it is the south side. I will try and take some better pics of that area.
This forum has been invaluable to me. I would not have gotten this done with out all the good information I have found here. Thanks again to everyone. I am sure I will have tons more ??'s as time goes on.
Nautical
Looks very nice Nautical! I see what you mean about the shade of the trees...maybe you can cut some stragetic branches off of some of the trees-after you get an idea of what branches are blocking the sun. You can't cut them all, but maybe some would make a difference.
I wonder why you put the shutters on the side and not in front on either side of the door? I have seen directions for that and never understood the theory. You would get better "pull" if they were directly opposite the fan, but because of the size of the grhouse, if things get too hot in there, you can leave the door open and you will get great air movement.
Tigerlily,
I have been looking at branches. :) Would have to hire a tree service though, as they are much too high to reach from the ground.
The kit came with the vents, as part of the package. They include a very easy to use mounting bracket, but it has to span 24". The panel next to the door is less than that, and the door frame does not have the slots to accept the mounting bolts. The diaganol cross brace interfers with mounting it in the very front corner. So that was as close as I could get. If it is real issue, I could make a bracket to work next to the door. Although that would require quite a bit of work at this point, as all the wiring is in, and I would have to order new panels to replace the ones I have already cut holes in.
Nautical
OH WOW! Nice! And pre existing landscape!! How wonderful ! It fits the area so well. You must be thrilled ! Love the pavers too.
Nautical, you should have enough light. My greenhouse (both old and new one) are on the west side of the house. Plus a 6' white fence is on one side of it. Growing plants have been no problems for the 3 years on that side. You should be fine.
Did you get a shade cloth for your new greenhouse tho? They are very handy in the heat of the summer.
Carol
What a lovely setting that is. It looks like the landscape was built around the GH instead of the opposite. I also love the look and shape of your GH....pleasing to the eyes. :-)
I wish you lots of good growing and enjoyable time in your new GH.
Donna
I think your ventilation will be OK, particularly if you have a screen on the door that will allow some air in that way. The only dead spaces will be the corners on the end of the house opposite the door, but HAF fans could easily take care of that.
I wonder whether you'll need shade cloth with the high shade of the trees.
nautical,
Nice job man.!! Your brickwork looks great. No big mess all around the construction site like my work.
Very impressed and a beautiful location.
Now just listen to the experienced ones now to get it running right.
Nice, nice, job!

so i don't have to read the whole thread .....who makes this greenhouse.... ; lovely
I purchased the house from ACF Greenhouses. ( http://www.littlegreenhouse.com ) It is manufactured by BC Greenhouse, the model is a 12x14' Cross Country.
The kit was very well crated, no missing parts, and nice video and instructions. Very east to assemble, although it would be very difficult to get the poly on by yourself. I was very impressed with how well everything fit together.
Looking forward to filling it up. Already wishing it was bigger.
I Had the oppourtunity to visit with Digital_Dave this last weekend. He has a fantastic collection of Bromilieads. He sent me home with some, now all I have to do is keep them alive! I learned a lot from my visit. Thanks Dave!
This website has been most helpful in so many ways. Thanks to all who take the time to help novices like myself out.
Nautical99
Nautical, I was surprised how easy it was to find your greenhouse....You have lots of room in there for more Plumeria! he he...
An idea about shelving. I went to Home Depot and they have some nice heavy duty plastic for about $30-40, you can set them up as 2 shelves or 4 shelves. What's good about them is they are open and water can drain right through them. That's what I was using in my GH and they did the job. Taller plants can go on the top shelf and trays and smaller plants can go on the lower shelves. Works great when propagating because they don't need that intense light. Enjoyed seeing your GH - looks FABULOUS! I'll have to follow your thread and watch you fill it up!
nautical99, thanks for sharing your pics of the green house, and setup.
I especially liked the stone pavers.
I think it's time for a pictoral update. :)
thanks,
