Looking for a source for hazelnut shrubs

Southern Mountains, GA(Zone 6b)

I'd like to buy a few shrubs of Corylus, avellana. I'm reluctant to order from either Autumn Ridge Nursery or Ty Ty Nursery since both have a lot of negative reviews.
Thanks.

Try Oikos from Michigan.

Hey Scott, that nursery is less than an hour from my house. I will have to go there....

The National Arbor Day foundation is promoting a nationwide campaign to plant American hazel or American filbert (Corylus americana). At least, I've seen one of their recent mailings listing such.

Though that isn't what roseone33 directly requested, it might be of some value in future endeavors by Rosemary or others. Here's their weblink:

I couldn't find that particular campaign in a brief review of the site, though they do list a number of nut-bearing plants available.

Try www.nearlynativenursery.com also, they're located in Georgia. I looked and they have two types of hazelnut.

Roseone33,

The nursery Escambia linked might be better for you. It is probable that they're are growing local provenance selections of Corylus, making it more likely they will do well in your conditions than plants Oikos might offer which probably source from Michigan plants.

Thank you all very much. Just got in from a busy day so I will have to wait a bit to check out all the great leads. Needless to say, I'm looking for a tree/shrub that is adapted to my area, from a company that offers quality plants and great customer service... ;-) Not asking too much, am I? Rose

Burnt Ridge Nursery in Oregon has a big selection... if they aren't sold out. Look at http://burntridgenursery.com/.

Mark., bought some of theirs the other year but they didn't like my climate: not enough chill hours

Just wanted to let everyone know I finally decided on the Arbor Foundation, can't resist a "free" deal. I joined and am getting 10 red cedars for a windscreen I want to start and I also joined their Hazelnut Project, three corylus americana for $20. I'm happy to support them and get trees with free shipping.
As a warning, don't make the mistake of going to arbordaydotcom, apparently they are a scam site.

rhinelander, WI(Zone 4a)

there are a lot of sites offering hazelnut, go to our own garden watchdog and see, there are 10
good nurseries , go to one that specializes in tree seedlings. Hazelnut is the oldest tree? as far
being ancient , and sacred . all trees are "sacred" i guess. jim
