If you cut off the flower of a oriental, etc lily will you have problems the next year? Some plants needs the stem to get food to the roots/bulb. If so, how much of the stem must be left on?
Thanks

Cutting Lilies
I cut off no more than 1/3 of the stem. You are right in saying most of the nutrition for next year's bloom comes from the leaves. I lop the whole stalk down, only after a hard frost in the fall.
