I stopped by a friend's house around sunset and her neighbor had a lovely night jasmine (I think...correct me if I'm wrong). the scent was so strong I knew it was there before going over to see it closer. As I got closer, there was what I originally thought was a hummingbird fluttering to-and-fro, stopping for sips of nectar. I slowly retreated to my car where I just happened to have my digital camera and snapped a few pictures before the battery died. I like this pic but it's a little blurry...can anyone make it nicer for me?
Anyway, is this a hummingbird moth?
Are there several varieties of hummer-moths and if so, what is this one?
I'll attach a couple more pics. You'll have to get close to see the details.
CLOSED: Hummingbird moth?
Some people call the sphinx moths hummingbird moths.... there's a clear-wing hummingbird moth that is called that too. I think yours is a White-lined Sphinx moth. The fisrt link is a bunch of different moths, and the second is a page about your moth (I think, anyway...)
