Yes! I saw one of these when I was a kid, in an old Beech tree. I ran home and got my colored pencils and drew pictures of it for hours.
It's a Marbled Orbweaver, Araneus marmoreus. Some individuals are darker or lighter, and I can't swear there's not a subspecies or related species it belongs to, but take a look at these:

Thanks for the info .I never saw one so orange,but my son said it was October and there were pumpkins nearby. Makes me wonder IF they can change colors,what other colors are possible?

Crab spiders aren't in the same family as the spider in question, and they're a lot smaller. Some A. marmoreus are lemon-yellow with black markings, some are more orange... this picture looks more like your spider than some A. marmoreus
