Snow on elms

Orwell, VT

One of my favorite things about winter is the beauty of snow on tree and branch. Here are some elms that had a warm snow blown at them from the north on a March day in 1977.

Very nice - looks like an illustration.

This photo captures the magnificence of those lovely elms. Elm trees help us find something truly wonderful in every season. In Chicago's Grant Park there is a lovely span of Elms--it won't be long before I'll be making some appointments to go see old friends whose offices offer a view of the trees. In spring the Elms burst forth with that incredible yellow outline as the leaves begin to show. What a treat. I really appreciate your posting this photo.

Waah! that photo takes me back to my days snow shoeing through our woods in Northern Michigan. that would be about 1955!

May those elms live forever! Its almost like a Japanese Ink Painting.

I'm so glad that you all enjoyed this photo. Sadly all the elms in this picture have since died but their beauty echos within my heart. I started to plant disease resistant elms in our village for my town's 200 birthday in the late 80s, there are now three good sized youngsters on the town green.

I believe that some of the good attributes of my character developed because I grew up beneath these trees.
