I know that the wintersown.org site says that they will work, but I wanted to see if anyone from here has had success with Delphinium elatum. Thanks, Tamara
Success with delphiniums?
I'm wsing 1 variety of Delphinium just to see if I can get it to grow in my zone. Delphinium are known to prefer growing in cooler temperatures, so they are iffy for my area. However, that won't stop me from trying to see if I can ws them. I look at it as a challange! :~)
I've tried them before by direct sowing and none germinated, so I'm going to try WS. I'm in zone 5, so they should be able to grow here just fine. I've heard larkspur are a good alternative, so I'm WS those as well. Tamara
I WS Pacific Giant Blue Bird, Conneticut Yankee, Clear Springs, and Larkspur - something had better work!
I WSd two varieties -- has germinated extremely well, the other not so much (I apologize for not having the names right in front of me). Of course, I'm not sure how well they will do here in the sunny, humid south in a couple of months. But for now, I am having success with at least some of them.
