It`s lovely. I`m curious about the leaves. What do they look like? Just curious.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks. I must say I spend as much time admiring the leaves as I do the flowers. Very neat looking flower and leaf there!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Keep it up Paul!! ☺

12 degrees? Gee, I`m so spoiled thinking 33 is cold. :)

I have been taking my morning glories outside. It was like the vines were asking me to take them out there the way they were all turned to the window. I have been taking mine in and out to harden them to the outside since it will be getting warm here as soon as this cold front goes away.

Really nice, Ronnie! I'll have to do that one day.... I did get a few of my seeds planted in trays this week end though.

I'm with Karen in that I often enjoy the leaves as much as the flowers! - Arlan

Lovely blue flower! Wowee!

Ronnie, I had an identical SOI last season. I called it my SOI #2. # 1 was
the SOI most seen with the prominent star. Both of these came out of the same
seed pkt. Here's a not so good pic of Star of India #1. I believe the star is
visible.

Jackie I never tire of seeing the stars, such nice blooms aren't they!

Ronnie and Jackie,

wow, those are both beauties.. I love those deep colors. Is Star of India the same as these.. I started one MG with the label Star of India package.

Just a few reminiscences...

The 'Star of India' is a name that was applied by The Fragrant Path to a type that was previously available through the Flower & Herb Exchange that was previously being called "Royal Robe"...

The 'Star of India' or "Royal Robe" NEVER came out of any Early Call mix...despite claims to the contrary...

The "Royal Robe" came out of a very dark burgundy (darker than any Umi) that was available in the very earliest batches of Burpees Sunrise Mix...The Sunrise Mix from Burpee was a version of "Sakata's Akatsuki Mix",but with the addition of some interesting color variations not usually seen in the Akatsuki mix...although the akatsuki types that came out of the Sunrise Mix were consistent with the Akatsuki types that Sakata was offering in Japan...

I had spoken directly with the main purchaser(!) from Burpee who confirmed that their exclusive "Sunrise Mix" offering was from Sakata...and the 'larger size' commercial size packages that I acquired from Burpee were imprinted with "Sakata" on them...

The 'Star of India' apparently shows such similar variations in the color depth and pattern as the earlier named "Royal Robe" that my very strong impression is that they are essentially the same...the Star of India may show more of a tendency towards a star pattern than the Royal Robe due to some selection...the Royal Robe has a bit more of a tendency towards a deeper richer coloration...but they're both carrying the same 'bag of tricks'...

The Star of India and the Royal Robe both can throw a fuchia version of the more usual blue...the fuchia version very closely resembles "Ehigasa"...

Thanks, Ron, I often wondered about the origin of the Star of India name.

Thanks Ron,
I've got one started.. also, how interesting about Burpee selling Sakata seed. Now going to check out all those Burpee packets I've gotten.

Ron, thanx for the info. Very interesting about Sakata, SOI and Royal Robe.
My fuchsia bloom with the variegated
lvs came out of Sunrise Mixed. I also had a very
pale pink out of the same pkt. I definitely will grow out more of these this season.
Just found the pkt I used. Sunrise Mixed, packed for 1999, Lot 6, Grown in Japan.
I also found a newer pkt from Burpees,
the seal not broken, Sunrise Mixed, grown in Japan, lot 2, packed for 2005.

Is that Out Side?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

No Paul I have them inside in an extra bedroom that is now my wash area. The ones under fluorescent lights are blooming compared to the few I left at the window in the sun. A lot of nice growth just no buds.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Oodles of goregous blooms!

Nice Blooms Its 80 here today Paul

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Well we almost made it to 53, Woo I was sweatin!!☺

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

The packages that I got of the "Sunrise Mix" were for the 1/4lb size without any photo...I doubt that the usual consumer size packets with the photos would have the Japanese company name on them...

The "Royal Robe" offered years ago through the F&HE is not anything like the pink sunsmile-like 'Robe' offered by the ebay merchant from the 4H club...

TTY,...
