In my manual, the part number for the "Panel Clips" is no. 53.

Edited to add, here is a link that (I think) will allow you to download a PDF file for the manual, if it would be helpful to see one while you're waiting for your kit to arrive. If this doesn't work and you have any other questions, just let me know!

Thanks, but that is the assembly drawing number. I was looking for the part number to order extra's. I found it on Charley's GH http://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/index.cfm?page=_productdetails&productid=1451

Does anyone know the model number for extra clips?

Ah, sorry about that! Glad you found it at Charley's.

I put up my 6 x 8 HFGH last year. I love it. Would I want a bigger one--of course, but I could fill up any size. I am using it this season to bring out my seed flats. I have a 1500 watt oil filled heater with a thermostat and it is staying well into the 60's at night, even with the outside temps in the 20's. But, I do have bubble wrap on the north side and top wall and at night I throw an old comforter over the top of the greenhouse. I did purchase extra clips from Charley's after reading other posts and haven't had any problems with panels. It has already paid for itself in the enjoyment it has given me already. (Plus no more flats on the dining room table all spring.) My husband helped with the 2 x 8 framing, but I assembled everything else myself. I thought it was pretty easy. In hindsight I would have used 2 x 12's for the base, but I'm 5'3" so the height is no problem. Sorry the pics were uploaded in the wrong order.

Well Charley's is B/O on the clips. GH will be here Friday, but it looks like Rain all weekend, the next weekend is shot due to Easter.

Well it is here, Now what? LOL

Oh boy oh boy, now the fun begins!

We're now leaning towards a location in our yard that will require us to 1) move a storage building and 2) remove an unhealthy tree. Looks like yours will be up before mine is...!

Just a little TNT will cure both problems. LOL

Hello fellow gardners !!! I am new to DG and this forum thread caught my eye since my Husband bought & installed my Harbor Freight GH for Valentines Day. I love it !!! I am growing all kinds of plants, I would have normally spent $100's of dollars at the nursery each summer...........now I grow my own and give them to my family & friends. And I am in total peace when I am in my Greenhouse. He put my greenhouse on railroad ties that anchor to the ground. Plus I am extra tall so I do not have to stoop to go in. My shelves I got from Charlies gh catalog, I spent more on the shelves than the entire gh alone, they are made from aluminum and my husband custom fit them by using aluminum angle metal to bridge between the railroad ties so I have toe space under them . He even put water & power in it. Not bad for a Hobby GH .......Anyway this is my first post . I have enclosed a pic of my gh .

Thanks Suzy

Suzy, that looks like a nice setup. Everyone here seems to have a special way setting up their greenhouse. I love to see how others do it. Love your 'Potting Shed' sign!

That looks great, and thanks so much for posting the photos. (Lovely benches, too!) I'm sad to say my HF greenhouse is still in the box (long story) but I love seeing yours up and functioning.

Have you had any problems with ventilation to keep it cool enough? I'm pretty sure that will be my number one challenge.

Yes Suzy,

How did you get two vent windows, I thought the 6X8 HF only came with one? It sure needs two, though, mine has been a problem with too much heat!

Acampo, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks for all the replies on my first post !! I have only had my gh since feb 07 so time will have to tell about the heat and ventilation. Where I have it placed gets full morning sun and then it is partly shaded in the hot afternoon. I don't know why I got 2 vents my Sister has the same size HF 6x8 gh and she only has 1 vent ?? I have left the door open a few days that the weather has been extra warm ? What temp should the gh not go over ? I don't want to fry my new plants ?

Thanks in advance

I think the temperature limits for your greenhouse depend largely on the type of plants you're growing. I'll be mainly growing cacti and succulents, for example, so my plants could tolerate higher greenhouse temps than some...but I'm sure I'll still need good ventilation and air flow. I've read that most greenhouses need to have some type of fan to keep the air moving for the general health of the plants, regardless of temperature.

You might consider starting a new thread with the information about the kinds of plants you're growing, to see if more experienced folks have answers for you. Maybe your climate will be kinder than mine...our summers get pretty toasty here. :-)

Here is some cooling info for you: http://www.igcusa.com/greenhouse_cooling_information.htm

One of the biggest challenges with the 6x8 HFGH (and any small GH for that matter) is temperature control. Small GH heat up faster and cool off faster than larger structures.

One study showed that exchanging air in a GH once per minute will get the temp down to, on average, about 8F above the outside temp. Exchanging air every half-minute will get the temp down to about 4F above outside temp. Therefore, if I were sizing an exhaust fan, I would ignore the standard advice to size the fan at cfm = volume of the greenhouse in cubic feet. Instead, size your exhaust fan at double the volume of the GH. So the HFGH volume is what, about 350 cubic feet...get an exhaust fan rated at 700 cfm or higher.

Evaporative cooling can be quite effective. I would also say that evaporative cooling can help in most climates, not just "dry" climates. If you look at relative humidities in our region, for example, you often see RH of 80-90% in the morning...evap cooling wouldn't work as well at this time, but fortunately, we don't need evap cooling at this time of day. By 3pm, however, when evap cooling is needed, the air has warmed to such a degree that it will hold lots of water, and the RH has dropped down to 40%, sometimes even less. You can take advantage of evap cooling by many methods, including misters, foggers, and cooling pads. You can even build your own: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/hydro/msg0801115431521.html

Hope that helps,

SB

I live in an area that gets & stays in the 90+ degrees throughout the summer. a good 3 months worth. I did get a mister system which I have not ( my husband has not LOL ) yet installed. So time will tell........ since I am a newbie to this GH hobby. Thanks for all the helpful input............

Wow..I didn't even notice that you had two vent windows.,.what a cool mistake! It's looking good!

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

I've had my HF greenhouse for about 18 months. Last summer I didn't have any plants in it because the daytime temps were over 100 degrees most days with door and vent open. This year DH made a PVC pipe frame and I have 60% shade cloth over it, with about 2 ft airspace above the GH. It is keeping temps to the 90s so far, but its not been that hot yet. I also added an old ocilating (sp) fan that seems to help. Becky
