germinating I. floridus

Clatskanie, OR(Zone 9b)

I would like to hear from those that tried to germinate this specie last year. If you tried these last year, how about giving those of us poised tr try our luck , some tips. My seed packet was a whopping total of 3 seeds at 60% germination. That could mean I might get one to germinate. I am going to try the float and sink test first.Frank

Frank - regarding testing Convolvulus floridus and any other Convolvulaceae seeds >I shared on this previously in this post here

The floater test may cause the lightest/emtiest and most unviable seed to float along with some delayed hydrating viable seed...it does not reliably filter out viable seed(s) from unviable and considering that rare seed is valueable...I disreccomend it,especially for rare/valueable seeds due to the innaccuracies of the test...

So far all(!) of the tropicals have sprouted best using a soiless mixture and bottom(!) heat...

TTY,...

Thanks Ron. That is what I was trolling for, I just forgot what species you were talking about. I can only make 3 mistakes, because I only have 3 seeds. In another week, all my specie seeds should be here, and my camera, and I can get started on my own specie sprouting project. I am glad I have a huge bag of pearlite. Frank
