Who's Got Inflo's?
WOW Clare....I'll bet your green house smells wonderful....do you just walk in the door and take a deep breath??
OMG!I have to try writing my list down. Clare I thought I had a few untill I read your list.I have to try writing my list down. Not much going on in the green house.
Mickey
threegardeners, it really does smell great in one of the greenhouses where all the blooming ones are. I can't really walk in the door because it is so crowded and so hot in there, but when I open it up to air it out, all the fragrance and heat hits me in the face, and it is a great wake-me-up in the morning!
Mickey, post your list here when you get it. I'm sure there will be more coming for you and for me and for everyone as the warmer weather arrives.
Awesome..saving for my first grafted plumie..heehee
gee I want to smell them..I wonder if they have any at the botanical gardens in St. louis..and when do they bloom inside in my zone?..so I can see if they have any blooming in MO...I just HAVE to smell some....those look great Clare...:-)
Thanks, JodyC. They smell awesome. Some smell better than others:-) They can bloom any time of the year if kept in a greenhouse with supplemental heat and light during the colder months. Mine bloom from spring until fall outside, and some start to bloom in the fall and then get moved to the greenhouse to bloom in there during the winter. They won't bloom inside a house unless they are given supplental heat and light. It takes a lot of energy to bloom so energy levels need to be high.
Thanks for the continuing info..inflo..heehee
HI Clare. What a nice big list of inflos you have. I have one inflo on my Aztec Gold. But considering I only have 3 plumerias, I'm quite happy with it.
I'm going to order my first graft from Florida colors whenever they are back from Thailand. Do you know when they are expected to return?
I am soo jealous of you guys and your inflos...I want inflo's..I wonder if the folks from Florida would send me something with inflo's? How long does it take to get inflo's and are they buds?? or new growth??
I guess I need to read the basics on these plumie's..lol...is the even the correct way to say and spell plumeria's for short??
LOL, JodyC! You can get inflo's right away on a new cutting or new graft. A cutting can even bloom while it is rooting, but it does take a lot of energy to bloom so it should be rooted first; otherwise, it takes energy away from the rooting process. Still I've never cut off an inflo while rooting a cutting, but if a cutting blooms at the same time that it is rooting, rooting is slower and the blooms are usually smaller and fewer. Yes, an inflo is short for infloresence, which is the stalk that holds the flower buds. They come in when the conditions are right and when the plant has enough energy to bloom. After the tip of a branch sends up an inflo, that tip then branches into two or three or four branches around the inflo. Those new branches can come in at the same time or shortly after flowering.
Hi Maureen, I think they'll be gone for a few weeks. I'd wait until April and try them then. I'm sure that they will send you one with an inflo if you request one.

JodyC, they generally bloom once during the season, but on a rare occasion, you can get inflo's on the new tips that have come in during blooming. The inflo's have many buds, which can open at different times, so as flowers open and fade, new ones are being formed at the same time. Here is a picture of an inflo, with new flowers, faded flowers, and buds that you can see.
Nice list, Hetty! Congrats!
who would've imagined clare and hetty would have inflos. way to go ladies. you two have the magic touch.
dete
moving to antartic where is love of plumeria will be no more. LOL
Dete, we two probably have the warmest weather in the country right now which probably explains the inflo's. I'm sure yours will be coming shortly:-)
My first inflo died after one bloom opened half way... all my plumies were just begging to go outside.. they finally went out today since temps at night are now in the high 40's low 50's. They are all lined up on my sidewalk against the west facing brick wall of the house... covered and protected at night but getting lots of sun mid to late afternoon... maybe I can get rid of those darn white flies now! Almost all my cuttings are rooted and putting out new little leaves. Everything got drenched with water today because the post were baking in the sun in no time today. Wish me luck for inflos this year... my first year with plumies... I did not start until mid summer last year.
Tammie
Mine are just starting to push up it's spring time inflos. My Rose Red that has 11 seed pods on it .Those 11came from 6 inflo's.Yup 2 differant pods on the same inflo. Is that common? I've never had that on my others.
Wow, Don and Hetty! Interesting! I don't think that is very common, but I really don't know. They say that thrips are the pollinators of plumeria flowers so maybe you had a lot in your area that were attracted to that tree? Ya got me! LOL!
New inflo's for me include:
Aloha Palms White
A mystery from Carmen/Hetty
Sariah's Curly Pink
P. stenopetala
Bali Hai Gold
Spidery Yellow
Not sure if common Clare but i got a few of them too..
The other day i saw a disturbing thing..
Darn crows or blackbirds are stealing my pods i pick off the trees..
I left them on a work bench and right before my eyes those birds came down and snatch them..
Anywoo..
I am keeping to my promise and i am sending/or sent seeds to all those peeps who dmail me last year..
Seeds are from locals that YOU CANNOT GET ANYWHERE!
:)
8 peeps already have them and more are getting this week so check your mail!
As far as a inflo list too many to list so i leave you with this shot from last week.

WOW BLOOMS!!
Still 4 inches of ice on the frozen ground here in PA
All of my winter inflos turned black this year as I didnt have the greenhouse set up in the basement
Son #2 was given the space for his private haunt.
I am sooo looking forward to spring and blossoms this year.
Thanks for the preview and more reasons to move south lol!!
Beautiful shot, Robert!
Ah, Michael, the sacrifices parents make for their kids! Hope you get lots of blooms this spring and summer.
Ouch Mike hehe..
I posted this link for you Mike and Clare because what i gave you both this is what she will look like every month of every growing year..
Notice no leaves on the tree and yet i get this..
What i gave you both was a stud muffin plumeria perfect for breeding because she will throw out seedpods the size of a oversize banana's...
Chiao!
Robert, that was so nice of you to send us 'Flamingo Pink.' You know, did I ask you before if you own 'Treasure Isle' and if you've ever done a comparson between the two? It looks a lot like 'Treasure Isle' in your picture, and 'Treasure Isle' is a good flowerer and seed producer also. Tell me what you think. Here's mine:
Not the same flower Clare remember the small yellow center??
:)
No, I'm a dummy. I forgot! LOL! Thanks, Robert.
Ah Clare...this thread is just wrong!!! LOL....Ummm, I have a leaf to report...does that count? LOL
LOL, Chantell. You'll have lots of flowers in no time, I'm sure;-)
LOL...as soon as this weather warms...they're all outside..sure they'll be thrilled to get out of the living room!!! Keep tellin' the kids...soon as you're gone...your rooms becoming a greenhouse...ROTFL
Ooo la la, very nice, Kyle! Please tell me your Celadine has an inflo!
Clare that seedling is beautiful and the color of the inflo is amazing too... sort of like having an extra splash of color.
Tammie
Thanks, Tammie. I like the red inflo stem too:-) It looks like the pink might be darkening up a bit as new flowers come in.
Clare, mouthwatering pink blooms. I hope to have blooms soon on an
unnamed plummie. Will send pics when they start opening. Will be my first
ever.
Jackie
Now that is amazing Dutchlady1... can't wait to see the photos of it in bloom... it is in a hurry to bloom, can't even wait on a few leaves to form. LOL does this one have a name? How old is it?
Tammie
Sondra B is going to be very dressed up when she is in full bloom... what a site she will be. Hope you take pics of the entire plant when that happens.
Tammie
