We had a bad ice storm here in Iowa last weekend. We have a well and so after power had been out for over 12 hours, we decided to go into my in-laws' place for showers. dh also decided to get some water while we were there. I came out to the garage (so we could lift the garage door open!) and found him studying the gallon jug he held in each hand -- with the bottoms flopped down and only a scrap of plastic holding them together! In a fit of industry, I had cut EVERY jug we used since last November (as well as the dozens supplied by interested relatives) for wintersowing before putting them in the garage, so they'd be all ready if I had a minute to plant them. I have 50+ jugs outside, but at least another 75 cut and ready to go "in case I need them." As you can tell, my level of preparedness for the enjoyable but admittedly recreational wintersowing far outstripped my readiness for Winter Emergency. Why is no one I know surprised at this?
Fortunately, my In-Laws had some jugs we were able to use. ("Do you need us to start saving them for you again?" "NO!" my husband cried).
Funny Wintersowing Story (At least, NOW it's funny!)
Now that is funny! - Buy a five gallon water container that campers use and store that in the garage for emergencies. :-)
It is funny, but I'll bet your poor dh didn't think so. Men just don't have their priorities straight LOL
Gram amen lol,
Mystery I can relate to the well, but I haul water to drink so I am safe where those jugs are concerned. But my dh is the same way as far as saving any more jugs. he has told all the ladys at church (we're small in number) not to save me anymore, that I had more than enough... And I politely told them all, that he doesn't know what he is talking about (when it comes to WSing) so to please keep them coming that I would let them know when I didn't need anymore rofl...
Connie
That's to funny! However, bet your dh wasn't laughing!!
