Hot pink Lily

Brimfield, MA(Zone 5a)

Jackson and Perkins used to offer a "hot pink" lily and it's no longer on their site. It was definitely hot pink and not just pink or red... does anyone know of a hot pink lily??? Maybe I'm confusing it with a different plant, but hopefully one of you can help me find it.

Thanks.

Well, if I recall they only offered asiatics, so that can narrow your search. I suggest you just visit some of the lily sites and browse the galleries until you find one you like. This is the closest I have to a hot pink. It's called Devine and is an LA.

The Lily Garden has an option to shop by color. You might find something here to suit you ~ http://www.thelilygarden.com/pages_lilies/asiatic_pink_2.html

Dolly Madison is a vibrant pink in my garden. Asiatic, so easy to grow.

Thank you all so much for the great info. Beaker, that looks exactly like the one I mean. Thanks for clearing things up folks.

Beaker,

Do you remember off-hand where you got Devine? A google search and PlantScout search didn't pull anything up.

Thanks for your time.

Well, after poking around in Watchdog without finding Devine, I finally started reading all the links in the Lily Forum and went to every website that was referenced in here. I was able to find it at The Lily Nook. I think the reason I couldn't find it was because I was spelling it wrong and I should have spelled it DIVINE. I was able to get 10 of them at a discounted price so I thank you for my lily fix!!!

Hey, people in this forum are always willing to enable a fellow lily lover. :)

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

You can find it at B&D:

http://www.lilybulb.com/index.html

You don't want to order from the Lily Nook unless you have a huge order due to the health certificate and shipping from Canada.

OOPS, I see it is already too late.

Brimfield, MA(Zone 5a)

Yes, shipping was obscene. But I HAD to have them.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Yeah, and I see that B&D pulled them this year for propagation. You're going to love them once they mature.

Brimfield, MA(Zone 5a)

I saw that too and their website is way beyong my lily experience right now (thank you for showing it to me). I am a novice lily grower... aside from loly pop, stargazer and the common ones, I only have Casa Blanca which I LOVE. I ordered more from B&B this year along with Luxor. Luxor were the cheapest of the whites with yellow centers. I have been following the "Lily Tree" thread and I am going to look into those 6 feet tall ones!!!! Wowzer!!! Just what I needed, another plant to get hooked on ha ha!!!

I grow Lilium 'Fangio', and they are hot pink...I love them.. Saw some at Home Depot last week.. 6 bulbs to a bag for $4.97..I think I paid almost that much for my one.

B&D has Divine (spelled it right this time) listed as an LA and the Lily Nook has it as an LO. It looks so different from most other LAs, I tend to believe it is LO. It has a wonderful trumpet shape and as I recall, it was fragrant which is something you normally don't get or notice in LAs. I think I'll try a few of the Divine leaves for my leaf propagation experiment this summer.

Laf, make sure you check out the Watch Dog before making any purchases. The lily Nook is wonderful and so is B&D. Also the Lily Garden. Watch out for places like Brecks, Jackson and Perkins, and most of the Dutch sellers. Go with reputable growers when you can. If your not sure, ask here.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

The "Dutch" sellers have been really careless with sorting & shipping bulbs the last 2 years. I'm still trying to identify some of the ones I planted that I bought bagged up at local Earl Mays, nurserys and box stores. Oh well, a few surprises in my garden is not unusual. 5 years ago I bought on ebay.

Beaker, I'm interested in hearing more about your leaf propagation experiment.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Hi Ann, in one of my propagation books, it said that there were a few lilies that could be propagated through leaf heel cuttings. Longaflorum was one of the lilies listed that could be propagated that way. My experiment this summer is to try propagating LAs using this method. LAs don't set seed, so if there is another method to propagate without digging up the bulbs for scales, I'd be a pretty happy camper.

Elkhart, IA(Zone 5a)

Beaker, good luck on your experiment! : ) please keep us informed!

Brimfield, MA(Zone 5a)

Well, my order came yesterday and now I just have to get them in the ground when the weather is a bit safer. The kicker is that in Home Depot today, they are selling Divine and another bulb in the same bags. Oh well, at least I can say mine are from Canada!!

At least you can be pretty sure that what you get from TLN is what you ordered. You never know with the box stores what you will get.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

You just never know what you will get from store to store...

Thanks you two. :)
