I have some old zinnia seeds that I cut the heads off and put in a box and left in our back porch over the winter. I didnt really know if I could use them this spring or not but I figured I would keep them and try it out. They are still all attached, can I use them and is there a way to do this better next year?
Thank you
Meghan
last years seeds
Meghan. One way to store them is when the seed heads are rady in the fall, cut and dry them and seperate your seed s out then put in sealed baggy and store in fridge.
I would definately plant your seeds. You may not have ral good germination, depends on how ya store d them, but you should have some come up. Go for it.
Hope that helps some.
Zinnias are very forgiving...just crumble the heads over your tilled earth this spring and cover it all lightly with dirt...just like you would for plain old seeds.
Enough of them will come up that you'll never miss the ones that don't.
Thank you guys,
I did plant these earlier this week and they are already sprouting. I was so happy to see them. Its just my first trial of planting inside and so far so good.
Meg
