I have to admit I'm a collector of brain fluff. All those little useless facts that seem slightly interesting at the time and promptly forgotten about stick with me, forever. I'm even at the stage where I can link one fact to another without skipping a breath. Its embarrassing
I seem to have got a name for myself amongst my collegues at work for being a wealth of information on the worlds most utterly useless facts. I even had people saying I remind them of their granny/aunt/mother as she used to say these things (I'm not THAT old).
I've always said that one day I will write a book on my experiences (I have had people say 'It could only happen to you!'), but my first book will probably be on brain fluff.
Now I don't mind but I cannot keep something important in my head for more than a few seconds LOL. Last week? When was that?
Please tell me I'm not alone in this! LOL
Brain Fluff
You called? I have been called Fluff and Stuff many a time for the same reason....But I am that old!
Brain Fluff??? Oh, I get it. That's what all that fuzzy stuff that was falling out of my ears is.....mmmmmm.....wonder what happened to my brain?
Hi (whats your name again ?)
I know the problem only too well. Looking for a specialist in "reboring brain cells"; mine definitely need a refresher course.
Now, what were we talking about ?
El Tel
Call it being trivially minded....NOT. I like gathering info, too. To tell you: My big happy event today was receiving the latest "The Consumer Action Handbook" from the Federal Consumer Information Center. It lists hundreds of companies' contact numbers, faxes, etc. It's soooo neat. Love having my hands on that kind of thing! ;o)
Ah brain fluff, the reason I can't hold even a moderately profitable job!! It tends to clutter up what might be neccessary facts. My children were very lucky that they sruvived childhood with a mother like me! Are you familiar with the game Trivial Pursuit? It's the ONLY game that I have EVER been any good at. Family members, friends, casual aquaintances, even occasionally total strangers have been known to call me for tidbits because they KNEW I would know it, no matter how bizarre or miniscule it be. People have, for as long as I can remember, said to me "HOW did you know that??" And my most common answer is a shrug. I think that all that stuff is out there floating in the atmosphere and there are people, who like radio receivers, pick it up whether or not they are concious of it. A broad band sweep, if you will.
Oh, Kathleen - I was getting ready to post a reply almost identical to yours. Including being good at Trivial Pursuit. When it was popular, my DH and I used to kick some serious tail with that game, as he knows every (useless) detail of the sporting world, and I could handle just about any question from the other categories. It used to frustrate and amaze our friends.
Of course, he would disagree with me - he thinks those sports-related factoids are necessary and very useful, unlike the off-the-wall stuff I come up with, LOL! And how do we know this stuff? I'm like you - I shrug because most of the time I can't tell you where I heard, read or learned something.....
So glad to know I'm not the only one out here with a cluttered up brain. Tell me something and it's gone in a day but, if I read it it's in there forever.
