You have to play by their rules, yet use their own rules against them.
They always allow those little garden flags with pictures of flowers with sayings and such on them, so if you write whatever your sign says on the flag, it would now be called ornamental and if they made you take it down then they would have to make everyone who has a garden flag take them down also. Same goes for an engraved rock.
Can you tell that I have had some issues with covenants? LOL

Dogs & OWNERS in my gardens!
No garden ornaments of any kind are allowed in any part of our yard that is in front of the BACK line of the house. Basically any part of the yard visible from the street.

A bullhorn by the front door to "kindly" ask them not to let their dog go there..
oh and if the nrighborhood prohibits it.. ask them what you should do about the problem and how are they going to help you then??
More times than not.. I'm so glad we don't have an HOA. I love my yard art.

Hopefully the walkers will just start being more considerate.
